Provisioning a user-owned Polycom phone

Learn how users on the Enterprise plan can provision their Polycom desk phones to connect to the DialLink’s business phone system.

Updated over a week ago

Important: Only users on the Enterprise plan can bring their own desk phones and connect them to their DialLink account. Users on other plans can purchase only desk phones that are pre-provisioned with the DialLink app directly from DialLink.

DialLink uses auto-provisioning to configure Polycom (Poly) desk phones. This setup method allows the device to automatically download its configuration from the DialLink server without the need to enter settings manually.

The steps below describe how to apply the configuration.

1. Factory reset the device

Before starting the provisioning process, it’s recommended to reset the device to factory settings. This helps avoid conflicts with any previous configurations.

  1. On the phone, go to Menu > Status to find its IP address.

  2. Open the IP address in a web browser (e.g., https://<phone_IP_address>).

  3. Log in using the phone admin credentials.

  4. Navigate to Utilities > Phone Backup and Restore.

  5. Select Global Settings.

  6. Click Restore.

Note. Resetting the phone will erase any existing configuration.

2. Apply provisioning setup

Once the device restarts, configure the provisioning settings in the phone web interface:

  1. Go to Settings > Provisioning Server.

  2. Set Server Type to HTTPS.

  3. In the Server Address field, enter:
    https://api.diallink.com/v1/phone-system/provisioning

  4. Leave Server User and Server Password fields blank.

  5. Set Boot Server to Static.

  6. Save the changes.

The phone will connect to the DialLink server and download the assigned configuration. If the setup is successful, the device will display “DialLink Activate” on the screen and will be ready to use.
