Mastering for vinyl is different due to the physical constraints of the format, such as groove size, spacing, and the limitations of analog playback. These factors require adjustments in the frequency range and dynamic balance to ensure optimal sound quality without causing distortion or skipping.

Another key difference is that digital loudness, achieved through clipping and limiting, does not translate well to vinyl. In vinyl mastering, the focus is on preserving dynamics and ensuring the audio can be properly etched onto the record, without excessive compression or limiting, to maintain the richness and clarity of the original recording.
