In 2021 Shopify introduced Online Store 2.0. The new editor gives merchants full control over building new page templates, storefronts and adding apps with ease to specific parts of their store.

In order for Digismoothie's apps to be compatible with Online Store 2.0, we had to adjust our apps as well. Specifically, our apps can be activated or deactivated as "app embeds" within the Theme.

First of all, there's nothing wrong with the current ScriptTag method. Candy Cart will be working in the same way as with App embed. The main benefit of the App embed block is the control - in Theme Editor, you can easily enable/disable code insertion and have full control over displaying the pop-up.

First of all, please note that this method is only available for themes compatible with Online Store 2.0.

1️⃣ If you have such a theme published, go to Apps –> Candy Cart - In Cart Upsell –> Settings, and at the very bottom of the page you can Enable the app embed method:

2️⃣ Afterwards, the app embed is enabled for your theme. Make sure to Save the changes in the Theme editor:

The app embed is successfully enabled!

Now you can easily enable or disable the app on your store using the toggle in the Theme settings –> App embeds.

The loading method will be automatically changed and use the ScriptTag to load the app as it used to in the past.
