Exploring Map Visualisation and Layer Options in DAS

Satellite, 3D, Topography, Terrain, Street View & Layer Overlays

The DAS platform provides multiple map views and layer options to help you better visualise property features, terrain, structures, and data overlays. These tools are ideal for enriching your reports, emails, or presentations—ensuring you communicate clearly and effectively with clients or internal teams.

Use Cases: Insurance workflows, on-site planning, client reporting, internal reviews.


Satellite, Terrain & Topography Views

At the bottom right of your map, you’ll find toggles for Satellite, Terrain, and (NZ only) Topography views.

You can:

  • Capture screenshots to enrich reports and emails

  • Use views to prepare for property visits and orientation

  • Include visual data as part of Structure or Land Use report entries


Tip: Terrain and Topography views are particularly helpful for assessing slope, elevation, and landform characteristics.


Layer Panel – Visual Data Overlays

Click the Layer icon (stacked squares) to reveal options for toggling critical property data.


Australia Options

  • Land Area: Full legal holding under a single ownership.

  • Parcels: Rateable boundaries that can combine into Land Areas; hover to view parcel numbers.

  • Buildings: A quarterly-updated footprint layer showing known structures.

  • Surface Water: Visualise rivers, dams, lakes—great with Terrain or Topography for water risk mapping.

New Zealand Options

  • Mortgagee: Highlights mortgaged properties; hover to see the lending bank.

  • Rateable Property: NZ’s equivalent of Land Area.

  • Titles: NZ’s equivalent of Parcels; hover for title numbers.

  • Buildings: Works the same as in Australia.


Viewing Your Property in 3D with Mapbox

The 3D View provides a high-fidelity visualisation of your custom or system farm, showing terrain, slope, and elevation.

You can:

  • Pan, rotate, and zoom to view topography interactively

  • Identify terrain-related risks (e.g. erosion, runoff, fire exposure)

  • Capture screenshots for use in reports or presentations

How to Access:
Click your farm, then select the 3D map button next to the Build a Custom Farm button.

Google Street View in DAS

Street View is available via the yellow Street View figure at the bottom right of your map. Drag and drop it onto any road that turns blue—this indicates Street View availability.

Perfect for:

  • Previewing entry points, driveways, fencing, and infrastructure

  • Capturing ground-level reference images

  • Providing real-world context in insurance or property reports


Visual Overlays for Built Farms

Enhance your custom farm builds with visual overlays that add meaningful insights.

Land Use Overlay (AU + NZ):

  • Navigate to the Land Use tab

  • Click Show next to any mapped categories (e.g. Agricultural Land Use, Soil Type, Elevation, Remnant Vegetation and Crop ID)

Flood Return Interval (NZ only):

  • Available in the Risk tab

  • Toggle it on to see flood-prone zones mapped by historical return interval

These overlays are especially useful for environmental assessments, insurance risk reports, and geospatial planning.
