Written Guide Getting Started Building Your Custom Farm in DAS

Building a custom farm in DAS is straightforward. Follow these steps to create a detailed representation of your customer’s property.

Step 1: Select Your Point of Interest

Select on Map: Simply left-click on the desired area on the map.

Or Use the Search Bar: Located in the top-right of the interface (magnifying glass icon), the search function provides multiple ways to locate your property:

  • Address: Search like Google Maps by entering an address to receive a dropdown of matching suggestions.

  • GNAF: Use the Geoscape Geocoded National Address File, a trusted database for Australian businesses and governments.

  • Parcels: Identify legally registered land sections with defined boundaries.

  • Lat/Lon: Search using exact geographic coordinates.

  • ID: Enter our internal system’s unique identifiers for farms, which can be found in the Overview section of a selected parcel, land area, or custom farm.

If your farm area is large and spans multiple land areas, parcels, or addresses, don't worry you can still map it accurately. Simply select an area using one of the previous options to begin, and you'll be able to expand your Custom Farm during the building process by following this guide step by step.

Once your Point of Interest is selected, a yellow highlight will appear around its boundary, and an Overview Tab will pop up on the left-hand side for further details.

Step 2: Enter Building Mode

With your Point of Interest selected, click the Build icon located in the top-left corner of the selected property tab. This will activate Building Mode, giving you the tools to customize your farm boundaries.

Features in Building Mode:

  • Select/Deselect All Parcels: Easily select or deselect all parcels within a land area directly from the sidebar.

  • Toggle Views: Use the toggle at the top of the interface to switch between Land Area and Parcel views for enhanced flexibility.

    • Land Area View: Displays the entire registered property, ideal for capturing the full scope of the customer’s land.

    • Parcel View: Breaks down the property into individual lots, allowing for precise customization of smaller sections.

  • Adding Additional Parcels or Land Areas: To include more parcels or land areas in your mapped Custom Farm, simply hold down the Shift key and left-click on the desired areas. Once selected, the areas will be highlighted in green, indicating they’ve been added to your Custom Farm.

Switching between these views ensures that your custom farm boundaries align with the real-world layout of the property.

Step 3: Build Your Farm

With Building Mode activated, follow these steps to map the property accurately:

  1. Adjust Boundaries:

To refine your Custom Farm boundaries, hold down the Shift key and left-click on additional parcels or land areas you’d like to include. Use the Land Area or Parcel view toggle as needed to ensure the Custom Farm aligns accurately with your client’s property. You can also select or deselect parcels to match the property’s exact boundaries.

2. Save and Name the Farm:

  • Once the selected boundaries reflect the complete property, click Save Property.

  • A prompt will appear, allowing you to:

    • Name the Farm: Choose a name that makes it easy to find later.

    • Add a Client ID: Assign a unique identifier for better organization.

    • Set Custom Fields or Status: If available on your account, you can assign custom statuses or fields.

Saved farms are stored in the Custom Farms folder, accessible anytime from the left-hand side menu.

Step 4: Review and Finalize

Once saved, the custom farm boundaries will be highlighted in pink for easy identification (except for those with assigned statuses). You can now view all relevant DAS-provided statistics for the area within the custom farm and produce DAS Reports specifically for the custom mapped farm.
