Overview of DAS Locate

DAS Locate is a powerful batch import tool that allows users to efficiently upload multiple properties into the DAS platform. It enables bulk creation and updating of farms using structured CSV files, making it an essential feature for organizations handling large datasets. With Locate, you can streamline onboarding, update CRM tags, and maintain property records with minimal manual effort.

This guide covers how to use Locate effectively, best practices for structuring your data, and key considerations when performing batch imports.

Why Use Locate?

  • Bulk Property Uploads – Quickly import multiple properties at once instead of creating them manually.

  • Effortless CRM Updates – Modify farm statuses and custom fields dynamically through batch imports.

  • Consistent Data Management – Keep records up to date with a static CRM ID that ensures seamless updates.

  • Automated Mapping – Locate matches uploaded properties to the closest rateable land area, streamlining location accuracy.

Getting Started with Locate

To successfully import farm data into DAS using Locate, you will need to create a CSV file. This file must be formatted correctly for the import to be successful. Below are the key requirements:

Mandatory Columns

These five columns must be included for a successful import:

  1. Farm Name – The name of the property.

  2. CRM ID – A unique identifier for the farm. The CRM ID remains static, meaning once assigned, it should not change. This allows for easy updates when re-uploading data. Cannot have duplicates of same CRM ID.

  3. Latitude & Longitude (Preferred) – Coordinates for accurate mapping.

  4. Address (Backup Option) – Used when latitude/longitude is unavailable.

📌Best Practice: Use a single master CSV file with all client properties. When re-uploading, changes to existing CRM IDs will automatically update farm details such as addresses, custom fields, and CRM tag

Optional Columns

You can also include additional CRM tags to enhance your dataset, such as:

  • Client ID - For reference ID's to aid with tracking of specific clients or can be used creatively to reference specific policy numbers ect.

  • Custom Fields – Any specific custom data fields relevant to your workflow.

  • Workgroups – Assign farms to specific teams within your organization.

  • Status Labels – Label properties as “Active,” “Quoted,” “Lost,” etc.

📌 Note: All custom fields, workgroups, or statuses must be pre-created in DAS before importing. If any value does not match or is missing, the corresponding farm record will fail to import.

Uploading Your Data into DAS Locate

Once your CSV file is structured correctly, follow these steps to upload your data:

  1. Access Locate:

    • Log into the DAS Rural Platform as an administrator.

    • Navigate to Account Settings via the Profile button in the bottom-left of your screen.

    • Click on Batch Import.

  2. Upload Your CSV File:

    • Click Choose File and select your CSV file.

    • Ensure that column names in your CSV match DAS’s expected fields.

  3. Start the Import Process:

    • Click Upload to begin processing.

    • A message will confirm that the batch import has been queued.

    • Refresh the page periodically to check the status of your import.

  4. Review Your Import Results:

    • Once complete, download the Result CSV to verify your import.

    • The result file will indicate:

      • Successfully imported farms.

      • Farms that could not be mapped, along with reasons for failure (e.g., missing address, incorrect workgroup assignment).

Important Limitations

  • Single Rateable Land Area Matching
Locate assigns each property to the closest rateable land area. If a farm spans multiple parcels, manual mapping within DAS is required.

  • Unmatched Properties
Some properties may not match due to missing or inaccurate data. After the batch import, DAS provides an output CSV detailing successfully matched properties and those requiring manual review.
