How to Build a Query in DAS Portfolio
How to Build a Query in DAS Portfolio
Updated this week

Portfolio allows you to generate insights across farms using filters based on geography, farm attributes, and crop data. These queries are powerful for tracking market share, identifying trends, or conducting asset and risk analysis.

πŸ”Ή Step 1: Choose the Dataset

Start by selecting the dataset you want to search across:

  • All Farms – This option returns all parcels across DAS that match your selected criteria (Inclusive of all Rateables Mapped Properties within our Land Area Layer)

  • My Farms – This option filters only the custom farms saved within your DAS Rural Platform account.

Use this step to define whether your query is broad (all mapped data) or specific to your own farm portfolio.

πŸ”Ή Step 2: Define the Geographic Area

Narrow down the results by selecting a specific region:

  • Geospatial Area – Enter latitude and longitude, address or farm coordinates to target a 1 km radius around a central point. Or additionally draw a custom shape over an area to only capture properties within the geometric zone

  • State – Filter results by any selected Australian state.

  • Local Government Area (LGA) – Focus your query on a particular council region.

  • Postcodes – Enter up to five postcodes you’d like to investigate.

  • Climate Event Area – Select from predefined natural event zones (e.g. Moree Flood) to see affected properties.

πŸ”Ή Step 3: Apply Advanced Filters (Optional)

Further refine your query using detailed property attributes:

  • Area (ha) – Set a minimum and/or maximum land size to compare similar-sized properties.

  • Number of Buildings – Target farms with a specific building count.

  • Primary Land Use – Choose relevant land use types (e.g. Dryland Cropping, Grazing).

  • PTC Index – Filter properties by their productivity tendency (PTC) to highlight more valuable land.

  • Crop ID – Select crops of interest (e.g. Barley, Canola, Wheat) to narrow results based on farm production.

You can add multiple filters by selection one then clicking the + icon to the right of the drop down menu. Then simply select another option from the drop down and define your parameters for all selection filter options.

πŸ”Ή Step 4: Run the Query

Once all filters are set, click Run to generate your results. Portfolio will process the data and return all properties that match your query. Please be patient especially if you're running queries that cover large areas it can take anywhere from 1 Minute - 30 Minutes depending on the size of the query.
