Why Are Some Buildings Not Showing on My Property?
Why Are Some Buildings Not Showing on My Property?
Updated over 2 months ago

The visibility of buildings in DAS depends on several factors, including satellite imagery updates and the frequency of data vendor refresh cycles.

Satellite Imagery & Building Data Updates

  • Satellite imagery updates irregularly, with metropolitan areas receiving more frequent updates than regional or rural locations. In some cases, the most recent available imagery might be a few years old.

  • The building layer in DAS is updated quarterly from external data vendors. However, structures like silos or sheds can be erected in just a few days, meaning newly built structures may not be immediately reflected in the system.

Why Do Some Buildings Have Red Outlines That Don't Match the Imagery?

Because our building layer updates quarterly while satellite imagery updates at irregular intervals, there may be cases where a red building outline (from our dataset) does not align perfectly with what you see in the imagery. This occurs when a building was captured in our datasets but is not yet reflected in the most recent satellite imagery available.

Adding Missing Structures Manually

To ensure accuracy, DAS allows users to manually add structures to their reports. This helps bridge the gap between ground truth and satellite imagery, ensuring reports remain as up-to-date as possible.
