DAS provides multiple ways to search for and navigate properties, ensuring quick and efficient access to land information. Whether you prefer exploring visually on the map or conducting precise searches using specific property details, DAS offers intuitive tools to simplify property identification.
This guide covers two primary methods for locating properties in DAS:
Navigating the Map – Best for visually exploring and selecting properties.
Using the Search Bar – Ideal for precise searches using addresses, coordinates, or property IDs.
Let’s dive into each method in detail:
Method 1: Navigating the Map
Move & Explore the Map
Pan & Zoom: Click and hold the left mouse button to move around the map. Use the scroll wheel to zoom in or out for better visibility.
Map Views: Switch between satellite and terrain views, similar to Google Maps. You can also drag the yellow man street-view icon to a specific location for a ground-level perspective.
Select a Property
Once you’ve found the desired location, left-click on the land area to select it. The property boundary line will then turn yellow and the details panel will open on the left-hand side of the screen, displaying key information about the selected property.
Method 2: Using the Search Bar
The search bar, located in the top-right corner (magnifying glass icon), allows you to find properties based on various criteria.
Search Options for Australia
Address: Enter an address (similar to Google Maps) to see a dropdown of matching locations.
GNAF: Search using the Geoscape Geocoded National Address File, a widely used database for Australian businesses and governments.
Parcels: Locate properties by searching legally registered land sections with clearly defined boundaries.
Lat/Lon: Input latitude and longitude coordinates for precise property searches.
ID: Use DAS’s internal unique farm identifier, found in the Overview section of any selected property or custom farm.
Search Options for New Zealand
Address: Enter an address to find matching property suggestions.
Owner: Search by registered owner name to locate buildings and land owned by specific individuals or entities.
Title: Equivalent to the Australian Parcel search, this allows property lookup using its legal title information (ownership and boundary details).
Lat/Lon: Enter latitude and longitude coordinates for precise location searches. Useful for pinpointing rural properties.
ID: Search using DAS’s internal property ID, found in the Overview section of any selected property or custom farm.
Selecting a Property from Search Results
Once you conduct a search, DAS will place a red pin at the location. However, clicking the pin alone does not select the property. Instead:
✔ Left-click inside the black boundary lines of the identified property.
✔ The black boundary will highlight in yellow, confirming your selection.
✔ The property details panel will open, allowing you to access land data, create reports, or build a custom farm.
Next Steps: Building a Custom Farm
Once you've located a property, you may want to create a custom farm to match your customer’s land. A custom farm allows you to group multiple parcels, refine property boundaries, and generate reports based on accurate mapped areas.
