Amend future period posting for a user

There is a security profile setting which allows or prevents users from posting to future periods. It is worth checking whether or not the user has the correct security profile assigned to them before altering their current security profile. If the correct security profile is assigned, then the settings for the security profile can be edited using the instructions below.


Ribbon view

  1. First, check which security profile is assigned to the account being used:

  2. Click on System

  3. Click on the User Records button

  4. Find the correct user amongst the list of users

  5. The profile assigned is listed on the right-hand side of the list of users

  6. Close the user list window and then click on the Profiles button

  7. Use the Find button or green arrows to select the profile identified earlier

  8. Click the Periods button in the ribbon to open the Multi-Period Posting window

  9. There are seven types of future postings that can be enabled or disabled from this window which are Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, Nominal Ledger, Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Stock Control and Costing

  10. Click the Edit button to activate the tick boxes

  11. Select which types of future posting are required

  12. Now enter how many periods ahead the user is allowed to post to. There is also an option to restrict future posting to the current year only.


Classic/Module Menus view

  1. First, check which user profile is assigned to the account being used:

  2. Navigate to System Control, Users, User Records.

  3. Take note of the user profile assigned to the user account.

  4. Close the user list window

  5. Navigate to System Control, Users, Security Profiles

  6. Use the Find button or green arrows to select the profile identified in stage one

  7. Click the Multi-Period Posting button at the top of the Security Profiles window

  8. There are seven types of future postings that can be enabled or disabled from this window which are: Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, Nominal Ledger, Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Stock Control and Costing

  9. Click the Edit button to activate the tick boxes
