Once an administrator has created a Password Vault Login for a device and assigned the login’s ACLs to a user, shortcuts that correspond to those ACLs will be created on the desktop of VDIs the user reserves in the region for that device or service. Double clicking any of these shortcuts will initiate a session with the target device or service using a program appropriate for the port and protocol of assigned ACLs.

Accessing shortcuts on the VDI

The root directory for Password Vault Login shortcuts is named Device Shortcuts and will be accessible from the VDI’s desktop. Shortcuts are created in a folder structure that maps to specific facilities and devices. For example, if a Password Vault login exists for a device named Exhaust Fan Controller 2 that is located in a facility named New York, shortcuts for that device would appear in \\Desktop\\Device Shortcuts\Exhaust Fan Controller 2 as shown below:

Double-clicking a shortcut will initiate a session using the appropriate program. All authentication will be handled automatically using credentials and other parameters provided by the admin in the Password Vault login. Users will never need access to the credentials nor will they need to perform any authentication steps manually.
