Backup
Before you can export a mix or mashup in DJ.Studio, your project must have a name.
If your project hasn't been named yet, DJ.Studio will automatically prompt you to enter a project name before the export starts.
Where are exported files saved?
By default, the desktop version of DJ.Studio saves exported files to:
Users\<your username>\Music\DJ.Studio\Exports
You can change the default export location at any time by going to:
Settings → Folders → Exports
Opening the exported files
Once the export has finished successfully, DJ.Studio will automatically open the export folder in your file browser, so you can immediately access your exported mix or mashup.

Record (Downloading your Mix)
The Record option is the simplest export method, rendering your mix to a single audio or video file.
There are two tabs: Audio and Video
Exporting Local File Audio
MP3 - A lower resolution/quality file, which uses less hard drive space.
WAV - A higher-quality audio file that uses more space.
FLAC - A high-quality, lossless audio file with smaller file sizes and excellent metadata support.
You also have controls for Master Gain (which sets the final output level) as well as an Auto Gain Switch. The auto gain switch will automatically balance out the volume levels between tracks, helping you to get a consistent volume level throughout your mix.
Re-pitch Audio - This uses a more CPU-intense algorithm to achieve a better sounding, more artefact-free rendering of sections of audio where pitch shifting is being used (BPM/tempo transitions).
Use Limiter - This prevents the audio from clipping if it was otherwise too loud for the output, which would have caused distortion.
Split mix into separate files - Rather than exporting your mix as a single file, this will divide it into separate files, at each transition point. Useful if you want to make chapters in your mix, or divide it for a CD. This option is only available for WAV or FLAC exports.
Export CUE Sheet - Used for making CDs.
Click the Export button to start the rendering process.
DJ.Studio exports MP3 files with a bitrate of 320 kbps.
Exporting Local File Video
This is used to export video creations from the visualizer tool.
Resolution - Pick between three resolution qualities. Higher numbers have better quality but take up more disk space.
Orientation - Choose landscape for desktop, and portrait for mobile.
Video Acceleration - Option to switch to software if your video export crashes on the hardware option.
Audio Settings
Master Gain - Set the final output level
Auto Gain - Balance out volume between tracks
Re-pitch Audio - A more powerful but CPU-intensive rendering mode, for better BPM change performance.
Use Limiter - Prevents clipping by limiting the audio output to a certain level.
Export Description for YouTube - This creates a .txt file containing your track list and timestamps to include in a YouTube description, allowing you to create chapter markers.
Exporting as a DJ Set (Playlist)
The Playlist export lets you export your DJ.Studio mix as a playlist or track list that can be imported into other DJ software or used for documentation, track sharing, or royalty reporting.
DJ.Studio supports the following playlist formats:
M3U8
M3U
TXT
CSV
If you're importing your playlist into DJ software, see the dedicated guides for your platform:
Rekordbox
Serato
Traktor
Engine DJ
VirtualDJ
Export Options
M3U8
Creates an .m3u8 playlist file. This is a widely supported playlist format that can be imported into most DJ software and media players.
In most applications, you can simply drag and drop the file into your library. If needed, refer to the integration guide for your DJ software.
M3U
Creates an .m3u playlist file. Like M3U8, this format is supported by most DJ software and media players and can usually be imported by dragging the file into your library.
TXT
Exports a plain text file containing your mix information, including:
Artist names
Track titles
Track order
Mix timestamps
This format is useful for creating tracklists, sharing set information, or publishing your mix online.
CSV
Exports a .csv file containing detailed mix information.
CSV exports are especially useful for:
Royalty reporting
Music cataloging
Performance reporting
Importing into spreadsheet applications
Many collecting societies, including Buma/Stemra and GEMA, accept or can work with CSV data.
Include Audio
The Include Audio option copies all audio files used in your mix into the export folder alongside the playlist.
Enable this option if you want to:
Transfer your playlist to another computer
Archive your project with all required audio files
Share the playlist with someone who also needs the music files
If Include Audio is disabled, DJ.Studio creates only the playlist file. The playlist will reference the original locations of your audio files on your computer instead of making copies. This keeps the export smaller and avoids creating duplicate copies of your music collection.

Exporting to DJ Software
Export > Playlist lets you export your DJ.Studio mix directly to supported DJ applications. DJ.Studio creates a playlist containing your tracks, Hot Cues, and, depending on the software and export options, rendered edits, effects, and other mix elements.
Currently, DJ.Studio supports exporting to:
rekordbox
Serato DJ Pro
VirtualDJ
djay Pro
Each integration is optimized for the features supported by that DJ software.
Watch the video below to see the export to rekordbox in action!
What is exported?
Every DJ software export includes:
Playlist order
Transition Hot Cues
Depending on the DJ software you are exporting to and the options you select, you can also include:
Track Edits
Samples
BPM Changes
Transition Effects
Effect Blocks
These options allow your exported DJ set to closely match the mix you created in DJ.Studio.
How to export
Finish your mix in DJ.Studio.
Go to Export → DJ Set.
Select your DJ software.
Choose which export options you want to include.
Click Export.
DJ.Studio will automatically:
Create a new playlist in the selected DJ software (where supported).
Copy or render any required audio files.
Add transition Hot Cues.
Render any selected edits, BPM changes, samples, or effects into the exported audio.
Note: If your DJ software is already running during the export, you may need to restart it before the newly exported playlist appears.
Export Options
Track Edits
Track Edits render your timeline edits directly into the exported audio.
Supported edits include:
Cuts
Pastes
Loops
Stem edits
The exported audio always runs from the first beat used in the track to the last beat used.
Samples
Samples can be exported in two different ways.
Bundle with Track
The sample is rendered directly into the track it belongs to.
Choose this option if you want the exported DJ set to sound exactly like your DJ.Studio mix.
Export as Separate Audio Files
Samples are exported as individual audio files.
This allows you to trigger them independently in supported DJ software during a live performance.
Sample numbering begins after the last regular track.
Example
If your mix contains:
15 tracks
3 samples
The exported files will be:
Track 1–15
Sample 16
Sample 17
Sample 18
BPM Changes
When enabled, tempo changes created in DJ.Studio are rendered into the exported audio.
This preserves the timing and transitions from your original mix.
Transition Effects
Transition Effects can be rendered directly into the exported audio.
Supported effects include:
Equalizer
Audio Effects
Stem Transitions
Effect Blocks
Effect Blocks can also be rendered into the exported audio.
This includes Effect Blocks placed:
Inside transitions
On tracks
On samples
Hot Cue Layout
DJ.Studio automatically places Hot Cues around every transition, allowing you to easily recreate your mix live.
First Track
The first track contains five Hot Cues:
Cue | Function |
A | Start playback |
B | 8, 16 or 32 beats before the transition |
C | Transition start |
D | Bass swap (if present) |
E | Transition end |
Following Tracks
Every following track contains eight Hot Cues.
Incoming transition
Cue | Function |
B | 8, 16 or 32 beats before the transition |
C | Incoming transition start |
D | Incoming bass swap (if present) |
E | Incoming transition end |
Outgoing transition
Cue | Function |
A | 8, 16 or 32 beats before the transition |
F | Outgoing transition start |
G | Outgoing bass swap (if present) |
H | Outgoing transition end |
Beatgrid Recommendations
DJ.Studio exports its own beatgrid information whenever supported by the selected DJ software.
For the best results:
Do not re-analyze the BPM or beatgrid after importing.
Disable automatic Hot Cue generation if your DJ software supports it.
Only analyze tracks when waveform generation is required.
Re-analyzing tracks may overwrite the beatgrid and Hot Cues created by DJ.Studio.
Software-specific guides
Each supported DJ application has its own setup instructions and feature support.
Choose your software to learn more:
VirtualDJ
djay Pro
These guides explain any software-specific requirements, limitations, and recommended settings.

Publish On Mixcloud
With this choice, you can export your mix and upload it directly to your Mixcloud account.
First, sign in with your Mixcloud account, then adjust the settings.
Title - The name of your mix
Description - More information about your mix
Master gain - Set the final output level
Auto Gain - Balance levels between tracks.
Share With Community - Also upload your mix to the DJ.Studio community mix platform.
DJ.Studio will then record your mix and upload it to your account. It also includes all the track and artist information, which will be automatically added to the Mixcloud information.
After your mix has been uploaded, Mixcloud will need some additional time to process your mix and check for copyright infringements.
They also require your mix to be at least 18 minutes long.
Mobile App for iPhone (Beta)
We have recently soft-launched a Mobile app for iPhone and are still in the process of perfecting everything and writing documentation.
In short: With our mobile app on iPhone, you can listen to mixes made in the DJ Studio desktop app and you will need a Dropbox account for it.
Choose Export > Mobile App
Click the Login to dropbox button in the bottom right corner and sign in to your dropbox account to connect DJ.Studio to your Dropbox.
Export you mix with the desired settings.
Restart the mobile app on your iPhone to see your newly exported mix, ready to play!
You can only use the mobile app to listen to your own mixes. You cannot use this to share your mixes with the community.
We are not working on the mobile app for Android for now.
Export To Ableton Live
The Ableton Live export option lets you export your mix as an Ableton Live project folder.
These Ableton Live projects contain all the relevant automation parameters and effects. For example, if you automate the EQ, an EQ plugin will be placed on the Live channels, and loaded with the same automation you created.
This makes it super easy to export your mix (as stems) into Ableton for some final tweaking, mixing, editing, and mastering. This is also a great choice if you want to add any voiceovers or adverts for radio.
When exporting for Ableton Live, you are presented with two options:
Vertical - each song is given its own independent audio track.
Horizontal - songs are spread across two audio tracks, similar to DJ.Studio’s timeline.
When the exporting process is finished, you will be shown the created project folder in your browser. Simply open the contained .ALS file to open the project in Ableton Live!
Backup
This will create a .djs file of your project that you can import in any instance of DJ.Studio.
Exporting Mixes with Beatport Streaming tracks
If you have Beatport Streaming tracks in your project and click Export, the Legalize export will open. This will create a shopping cart in Beatport so you can buy all the tracks in your mix. (That you don't already own).
After these tracks are downloaded, DJ.Studio will automatically export your mix.
FAQs about Exporting Mixes
How Do I Download My Mix?
Click Export at the top right.
Select Audio.
Choose either MP3 or WAV, and configure the options as desired.
Click Export again, and wait for your mix to record and process.
The download will start after the mix is rendered!
What if my export stops or freezes? Or If I am having issues while exporting?
If your export stops or freezes during the export of your mix, additional potential issues, like external device problems, could be at play. Check if the USB or storage device you're exporting to is functioning correctly and has enough room to store the exported file.
If your export stops or freezes during the export of your mix, there is something in your mix that blocks the export.
Stop the export and remember the timestamp where it stopped
Open the Studio and check at that timestamp in your mix if you see some sample or effect that might be causing the issue.
Remove that element and try if that resolves the problem.
I see an error message during export
Please restart the DJ.Studio app
Try to do the export again
If you see the red error message again, can you send us your log file by clicking on "Help" -> and choose "Send log file", and follow the instructions.
It will also help a lot if you can you send a backup of your mix project via Export > Backup. Share the created .DJS file with us via a Google Drive link, Wetransfer, or Dropbox link. If you use Google Drive, don't forget to give view access. That way, our developers can figure out what is going on.
Can I export beat grids or cue points to Serato, Virtual DJ, Engine DJ or Traktor?
At the moment, DJ.Studio does not have an export option to export beat grids or hot cues to Virtual DJ, Engine DJ or Traktor. We have to build that for every software tool separately because there is no universal way how to store beat grids in audio files.
DJ.Studio already supports exporting Beat grids to Ableton and rekordbox. We are in the process of also building the export of beat grids toTraktor, Virtual DJ, and Engine DJ.
You can however use DJ.Studio to quantize mixed variable tempo tracks to a fixed tempo and export the tracks quantized. Export the track as a WAV file with the new fixed tempo and import it in your rekordbox, Traktor, Virtual DJ or Engine DJ, to play it live and mix it with ease with other tracks.
Fixing audio splitting issues linked to missing extensions
If you’re encountering a popup related to audio splitting or if vocal samples and similar content don’t play after importing a mix from one device to another, the root cause might be a missing stem separation extension.Resolution:
Install the Stem Separation Extension:
Go to DJ.Studio’s settings on the affected device.
Check for updates
Go to Settings > extensions and make the Stem Separation extension is installed correctly.
Restart the software after installation.
Test the functionality again: Ensure audio splits and playback work as expected.
Why Doesn't My YouTube Video Show Chapters?
When exporting and using tracklist information to show chapters, you need to add your tracklist to the YouTube comments in a certain way.
Export > As YouTube Video
Click Export Description
Copy the text from the document and paste it into your YouTube video description. Making sure the timecode stays in the HH:MM:SS format as below
How to automatically balance the volume between tracks?
You can use the auto-gain feature to make sure that all of your tracks are automatically exported at a more balanced level. When exporting, simply make sure that Auto-Gain is enabled, which will then make sure that your tracks are at balanced volume levels.
How to prevents copy right claims when uploading to YouTube
There are a few DRM things you need to know to upload your mix to Youtube. There is no black or white. also a lot of gray. Here is a video of Grahame Farmer explaining it in detail:
This is what I always do:
add the tracks that you want to us in your mix,
do a low-quality video export,
upload that video in private mode to YouTube,
and see if you are using any tracks in your mix that is not allowed.
Sadly, YouTube doesn't have an API option for us to check this for you upfront.
YouTube restrictions are not related at all to the fact if you bought the track legally on Beatport. Music labels tell YouTube if they don't want a specific track to be used at all, or not in specific regions.
Is there a mobile app for Android?
We don't have a mobile app to play your mixes for Android devices for now. We don't have any concrete plans to implement that.
I want to record/export a segment of my mix or mashup
We don't have a separate feature to export a part of a mix or a mashup for now.
If you only want to export a segment,
you can choose Save as in the file menu
delete all the parts that you don't want to export
Choose export.
How to prevent your mix/mashup to be taken down because of copyright issues on YouTube?

These is no way how to know upfront if a mix or mashup will be taken down on Soundcloud or Mixcloud because of copyright issues.
Can I export mixes to Logic Pro?
No, DJ.Studio can't export to Logic Pro. Logic Pro uses its own special file type that only Logic itself can make. Apple doesn’t give other apps a way to create this file, so DJ.Studio can’t export directly to Logic Pro.
Why do I separate files in my Export folder instead of 1 recorded mix?
If you see separate files in your export folder instead on 1 audio file, you probably have enabled the Export > Audio > Split mix into separate files setting.
Disable that setting to get 1 audio file.
