⏳ Refund Timelines

If a refund is issued following an investment on DealMaker, the timeline for receiving your funds can vary depending on the payment method, deal structure, and status of the offering at the time of your request.

This article outlines what to expect and what may impact how quickly your money is returned.

🧭 When Are Refunds Possible?

Refunds may be issued if:

  • Your investment is still under review and has not yet been accepted by the issuer

  • The offering did not meet its minimum funding goal

  • The deal is canceled by the issuer

  • You are eligible to cancel under the offering’s withdrawal terms

  • A refund is approved by the issuer at their discretion (e.g., for an error or duplicate investment)

⏱️ How Long Do Refunds Take?

Payment Method

Estimated Refund Timeline

Credit Card

5–10 business days after refund is issued

ACH Transfer

5–10 business days after refund is issued

Wire Transfer

Varies by bank (typically 7–15 business days)

Escrow-Linked Refunds

May take up to 30 days depending on release timing and third-party processing

📌 Refunds are not instant — funds must be released, verified, and cleared by multiple parties including banks, processors, and/or escrow agents.

🏦 Why Refunds Take Time

  • Escrow holds: For offerings using an escrow account, the escrow agent must process the release of funds after receiving proper instructions

  • Bank delays: Refunds to bank accounts or credit cards depend on your financial institution’s internal timelines

  • Verification steps: Additional review may be needed to confirm identity or match payment records before a refund is approved

📬 How Will I Know When My Refund Is Processed?

Once a refund is approved and initiated:

  • You’ll receive an email confirmation from DealMaker or the issuer

  • Your DealMaker dashboard may update to reflect the change

  • You may receive a separate refund notice from Stripe (if your original payment was processed through Stripe)
