Funding via ACH Transfer

Updated over 4 months ago

💵 Funding Your Investment via ACH Transfer

ACH (Automated Clearing House) is one of the most common and convenient ways to fund your investment on DealMaker. It allows you to securely transfer funds directly from your U.S. bank account without the need for wire transfers or credit cards.

🏦 What is ACH?

ACH is a secure U.S. banking network that allows for electronic transfers between financial institutions. It’s commonly used for direct deposit, bill payments, and now—investment funding.

📌 ACH is only available for U.S.-based bank accounts. International investors will need to use a different payment method (e.g., wire transfer or credit card)

📝 How to Complete an ACH Payment

  1. Proceed to the Payments page in your investment portal after completing your questionnaire.

  2. After you complete your questionnaire and signature, you will be redirected to a payments page. Click on 'Online ACH Transfer' from the list and then 'Connect Bank'.

  1. Choose your bank from the list and sign in using your online banking credentials via Plaid.

  2. You will then be redirected to a plaid redirect, when you click on "continue" you will be redirected to a list of compatible banks.

Please search for your bank and click on it. Once you do, you will have to enter your banking credentials to initiate your ACH.

  1. Select the account you'd like to use.

  2. Confirm the amount and click Pay and Submit.

✅ Once submitted, the payment will begin processing. You’ll receive updates on the status directly in your investor dashboard.

Manual Verification

Manual Verification provides the ability to connect your bank account and pay for an investment if your bank is not listed under "instant verification" or if you do not want to log in to your bank provider.

Step 1. Click “Manually verify Instead”.

Step 2. Enter the account details for the account which you would like to link to be able to complete a payment with

Step 3. After entering the bank account details, you will receive an email which contains a link to verify your bank account.

Step 4a: If you are paying via US-domiciled bank account and you are using the ACH network, you will receive one deposit which comes with a unique descriptor. In this case, the verification consists of entering the deposit amount as well as the descriptor. The descriptor will contain “SM” followed by a 4 letter code - this is the code that’s required. For example, for a descriptor of SMABCD-DealMaker, you would need to enter ABCD on the Stripe verification form.

Step 4.b: In some cases, depending on your bank account (this includes Canada-domiciled bank accounts on the ACSS network) you will receive two small deposits to the bank account you had indicated. To verify the correct bank, you must enter the amounts of the deposits in the verification page.

Step 5. Once you enter the correct amounts, the user gets a success message on the stripe verification portal.

Step 6. Once the bank account is verified, you may return to DealMaker to find your bank account is now linked and you may proceed to pay.

⏱️ Processing Times

  • ACH transfers usually take 3–5 business days to process fully.

  • Your investment status will remain “Pending” until the funds are confirmed.

  • You’ll receive a confirmation once your payment clears.
