How to connect your bank account for ACH payments

Step-by-step guide to verify and link your U.S. bank account for Dockwa payments in a web browser and in the Dockwa app.

To enable ACH payments within the Dockwa system, you'll need to connect and verify your U.S. bank account.

This article goes over the steps for instant verification, which is the fastest way to connect your account. With instant verification, you securely log in to your bank through Dockwa to confirm your account details.

If your bank isn’t supported, or if you prefer not to use instant verification, you can follow our manual verification process, which takes a few business days.


Step-by-Step Instructions via Web Browser

  1. Log in to your Dockwa account and click your Name/Initial in the upper right-hand corner.

  2. Click on Settings and select Payment Methods, or go directly here.

  3. Select the Add New Payment Method Button.

  4. Choose a Verification Method:

  • Instant Verification: Search for your bank. You'll be redirected to your bank’s site to authenticate instantly.

  • Manual Verification (Micro-Deposits): To learn more about this option go to this article: ACH Micro Deposit Verification.

5. Review and agree to the terms set by Dockwa and our payment processor (Stripe).

6. Select and connect the account. At this point, you will be redirected to your bank’s website to enter your login credentials.

7. Grant access to connect your bank account to your Dockwa account. Note that this step may look different depending on your bank's website.

8. Once your account is successfully connected, select the “Continue with Dockwa” button.

9. Click the Save button.

10. Your bank account, once verified, will appear under your Payment Methods. It is now ready to be used as a payment option for reservations and contracts.


Step-by-Step Instructions via Dockwa Mobile App

  1. Open the Dockwa app and tap the Profile icon in the bottom navigation bar.

  2. Tap Payment Methods.

  3. Tap Add New.

  4. Select US bank account

  5. Enter your Full Name and Email address. Hit Continue.

  6. When prompted, Review and agree to the Dockwa and Stripe terms to connect your accounts.

  7. Search and Select your bank. You'll be prompted to log in and connect to your to your bank's mobile site or app and grant access. Hit Continue.

  8. Log in to your bank's mobile app. For your security, your bank may prompt you to verify your identify by sending a message or code to your device.

  9. Select the bank account you wish to connect to Dockwa.

  10. Verify that your name, details, and selected bank account are correct. Then, tap Set up to finish adding your payment method. A green checkmark will appear on your screen to indicate that the setup was successful.


Troubleshooting

  • Don't see your bank listed? Not all banks are supported for instant verification. If your bank doesn't appear in the search, use the manual verification process instead.

  • Getting an error during bank login? Double-check that you're using your online banking credentials (not your Dockwa login). If the issue persists, try using a different browser or switching between the web and mobile app.
