Data Processing Pro

The Enable data processing pro toggle in the Organization configurations section of the Edit organization page

Data Processing Pro is a billing tier that applies to a whole organization. An organization on Data Processing Pro is charged twice the standard Data Processing rate for every document it processes.

The tier affects billing only. It does not change how documents are classified, extracted, reviewed, or exported.

An organization is put on Data Processing Pro when its commercial agreement prices it differently from the rest of the tenant. Because the tier is set per organization, one tenant can hold organizations billed at different rates instead of being split into separate tenants for billing reasons.

How It Works

Every organization is billed under one of two tiers:

  • Data Processing is the standard tier and the default for every organization.

  • Data Processing Pro charges twice the Data Processing rate for every processed document.

The tier is set on the parent organization. Sub-organizations are billed on their parent's tier and cannot be given a tier of their own.

A tenant-wide default tier also exists. Docupath sets it internally, and an organization that has never had a tier saved falls back to it.

When a document finishes processing, Docupath records the tier that was applied, together with the document's character count and the credits charged. Usage Insights and downloaded reports read those recorded values, so reports and invoices show the same numbers.

Changing an organization's tier applies to documents processed after the change. Documents that were already processed keep the tier and the credits recorded at the time.

Every change to an organization's billing configuration is written to the activity log with the user who made the change, the previous value, the new value, and a timestamp.

What the tier does not change

Data Processing Pro does not add or unlock platform features. Destination formats, customized fields, instruction builds, transformation rules, rejection rules, and the document review flow behave the same on both tiers.

Platform features such as Auto Review, IP Whitelisting and Identify Barcodes are subscribed to individually under Settings > Billing & payments, each carrying its own cost. Data Processing Pro is not one of them, and turning it on subscribes you to nothing.

Setting the tier for an organization

  1. Go to Settings in the left sidebar.

  2. Select Manage Organizations.

  3. Open the row menu for the parent organization and choose Edit organization.

  4. Turn Enable data processing pro on or off.

  5. Click Save.

Note: Changing the billing tier requires the Admin role. The Manager role can view billing configuration but cannot change it. The Reviewer and Custom User roles have no access to it.

Other Technical Specifications

  • The tier is configured on parent organizations only. Sub-organizations follow their parent.

  • The applied tier appears as Data Processing or Data Processing Pro in the Usage Insights list view and in downloaded reports.

  • The tenant-wide default is set internally by Docupath and cannot be changed from inside a tenant.

  • Auto Review is billed separately from the tier and is turned on through its own setting.

Notes

Data Processing Pro affects billing only. Platform features are enabled individually and are not tied to the billing tier.

Credits for a document are worked out once, at the time the document is processed. Changing the tier later does not re-price documents that have already been processed.

Known Limitations and Edge Cases

  • The organization edit page always saves an explicit tier. Once an organization has been saved, it keeps that tier until someone changes it, even if the tenant-wide default changes later.

  • The tier applies to the whole organization. Individual documents, document types, and trading parties cannot be billed on different tiers.
