Upload Tags with Extra Fields

Learn to add tags to existing constituents and optionally include values for any extra fields configured for your tags.

Prepare the Template

  1. Go to Data Management, then select File Upload.

  2. Download the Data Preparation Template.

  3. Locate the Tags with Extra Fields worksheet.

  4. Right-click the worksheet tab and choose Move or Copy.

  5. Create a copy in a new workbook.

Alternatively, delete any worksheets you do not need so only the tags worksheet remains.

๐Ÿ“Œ Note: You can remove any columns you do not plan to update, as long as the required fields are present.


Complete the Required Fields

  1. In your new workbook, provide one of the following so the system can identify the correct constituent:

    • Constituent Number.

    • Email Address.

    • Phone Number.

    • External Key.

    ๐Ÿ“ŒNote: This mapping follows Donorfyโ€™s standard constituent-matching rules.

  2. Enter the Tag Category and Tag you want to apply to the constituent.

  3. (Optional) Complete any additional tag fields you have configured, such as:

    • Start Date.

    • End Date.

    • Notes.

    • Any extra custom fields associated with the tag.


Upload and Apply

  1. Save your completed file as .xlsx.

  2. Navigate to Data Management, then click File Upload.

  3. Upload your file to run the validation checks.

  4. If the file passes validation, click Apply to process the upload.

โš ๏ธ Important: Once applied, tags cannot be removed using the File Uploader. You would need to remove them manually from each constituent if required.
