You can use the File Uploader to quickly update website addresses and social media IDs for existing constituents. This article explains how to prepare the Excel worksheet, which column names to use, and how to add the data before uploading.

Update Website Addresses and Social Media IDs Using the File Uploader

  1. Download the Constituent Update data preparation template::Constituent Update.xlsx

  2. Open the file, read the Important information text in the worksheet, then delete that text so you can work with a clean sheet.

  3. Remove all columns except the column you will use to identify the constituents, for example:

    • Constituent Number.

  4. Add one or more columns for the social media IDs or website addresses you want to update:

    • Column names must follow the format Social_Media_<social media type>.

    • To update a Facebook ID, use:
      Social_Media_Facebook.

    • To update a website address, use:
      Social_Media_Website.

  5. In the identifier column (for example, Constituent Number), enter the value for each constituent you want to update.

  6. In each Social_Media_... column you added, enter the corresponding social media ID or website address for that constituent.

  7. Save the workbook as an Excel (.xlsx) file, then upload it using the File Uploader so the updates can be applied to the existing constituent records.

πŸ€“Tip:
The constituent worksheets in the standard data preparation template already include the social media columns. You can download the template from Data Management, File Upload, then copy the social media columns you need into your own Excel worksheet.
