In this integration you'll be generating an API token in Iru

, then you'll configuring the necessary permissions for this token. Once set up, you'll use this token and your organization’s API URL to connect within Dots' integration interface.
Please make sure you are Iru admin user, which is able to issue an API key and configure permissions.

Don't like written manuals?

Creating a Token API in Iru:

  1. Sign in to Iru

  2. Browse to Settings> Access

  3. Scroll down to API Token.

  4. Under the API Token title you will find in the grey background your organization URL, save it for later.

  5. Press Add API Token.

  6. Give the Token a name and add a description (optional) click on create.
We advise you to give a meaningful name and a description that will help you avoid users deleting it by mistake.

  7. Copy the Token, we will use it in a bit.
After copying and saving the token mark “I have copied the token and understand that I will not be able to see these details again”.
    Click on “Next”.

  8. “Manage API permissions” pop up window will open. Press on “Configure” to edit the permissions.

  9. In the Configuration Page, scroll down to the Users section and mark the first check box next to Users. This will check out all the boxes in that section.

  10. Keep scrolling down to the Device information section. Mark the first check box near Device information. This will check out all the boxes in that section.

  11. Click on “Save” in the right corner of the screen.

Finalizing integration:

  1. Go to Dots' integration tab and filter by Device Management, to see only MDM integrations. choose Iru integration.

  2. A pop up window with an explanation about Dots system accessing Iru will appear.
    Review it and click “NEXT".

    • Another pop up window will appear asking you to enter the API token copied earlier and the Organization API URL which you saved before and click "NEXT".

      3. Now when the technical connection is done, please choose the integration connection mode you would like to activate in this integration.
This part is important as you need to choose the how you would like to sync your assets data from Iru:

Sync - Connect existing Dots assets with your MDM.
      What It Does:

      # Matches existing assets in Dots to assets in your MDM by serial number

      # Establishes a connection to view MDM data

      # No changes are made to your assets

      What It Means for You:

      # No new assets are created
      # No updates are made to your existing assets

Download Only- Import new assets from your MDM into Dots.

“New assets” refers to any asset found in the MDM whose serial number does not already exist in Dots. To prevent duplicates, we recommend that all previously uploaded assets in Dots include serial numbers.

      What It Does:

      # Pulls any new assets from your MDM that aren’t already in Dots

      # Creates new asset records in Dots

      What It Means for You:

      # Your existing assets remain unchanged

      # Any asset found in your MDM but missing in Dots will be added

      # Use this to ensure all your MDM-managed devices appear in Dots

Download and sync- Import new and connect assets from your MDM with Dots.

Please review all options to make sure you make the best connection for your needs, and click on "NEXT" when you are done.
Don't worry you can always edit later.

Following clicking "Next" you'll be presented with a report showing you how many and which assets were downloaded to Dots and how many were synced. Please take a sec to review it and click "NEXT".

    4. After you choose the relevant integration connection mode it's time to decide how you are going to assign your assets.
Auto-assignment works only when the employee's email in Dots matches the one in your MDM, since email is used as the unique identifier. You can skip this step if you won't like to assign your assets.

Please review your Auto assignment options and click on next after you choose the best option for you.

Unassigned Assets- Toggle on to connect unassigned Dots assets to MDM

    What It Does:

    • Dots will review all your unassigned assets and will assign them according to the MDM if the asset is registered and assigned on the MDM.

    Use This When:

    • You manually entered devices which are unassigned in Dots but are assigned to employees on your MDM.

Please note, if an asset is assigned in the MDM to an employee (by employee email address) which does not exist in Dots, this asset will not be assigned in Dots.

Newly Downloaded Assets- Toggle on to connect newly added assets from your MDM to Dots.

    What It Does:

    • Automatically assigns new assets (downloaded from the MDM) to the employee listed in the MDM

    Use This When:

    • You want newly imported devices assigned without manual work.

Pull All Asset Assignments- Toggle on to import asset assignments from your MDM.

    What It Does:

    • Dots will assign your assets according to your MDM, even if it means overwriting a previous assignment.

    Use This When:

    • You want your MDM to be your single source of truth (meaning you update your data in the MDM and not in Dots).

Please note, if the asset is currently involved in an active order (for example, it is in transit), or if the asset is in a Dots warehouse, then it cannot be assigned to an employee even if this option is toggled on.

Following clicking "Next" you'll be presented with a report showing you how many and which assets were assigned and to whom, and more importantly which were not assigned and why. Please take a sec to review it and click "NEXT" when you are done.

Click "Confirm" and your Iru integration is completed!

In Tab integration you can always view your integration status:
    1. In the right down corner, you can see the number of assets that were synced.

    2. In the left down corner last time the integration synced.
    3. The 3 dots in the right corner allows you to edit connection and auto- assignment type.

Kindly note: Asset names in Dots will be derived from the model field in Iru.
