Note: In order to view and amend rates for a user, a supervisor profile is required.

View the type of Rates your company uses

  1. Enter the DPSSQLConfig.exe file.

  2. On the bottom left hand pane, click on Rates.

  3. Here you will see 3 different rate types:

    • Fee Earner Rates: This uses Rate Tables to apply rates for different activities for users.

    • DPS Grade Rates: These are set up on a per application basis.

Fee Earner Rates

Add a new Rate Table

  1. Enter the DPSSQLConfig.exe file.

  2. Click the Rates Tab and then click Rate Tables.

  3. Click New and add a description.

  4. If some items are to be zero rated, click the grey box on the right under the DPS Zero Rated Items column and tick the items to be zero rated..

Assign the new rate to Fee Earners

  1. Within the DPSSQLConfig.exe file, click the Users and Groups Tab and then click Users.

  2. From the list of users, double click on the Fee Earner, then click the Fee Earner tab in the window that appears.

  3. Click Add on the bottom right, and then from the Fee Earner rates drop-down list, select from the options that were set up above.

  4. Add the Fee Earners Default Rate and then click Update. Note: If a Fee Earner works on a file with a specific Matter Rate Category setup, and they do not have this Rate setup against them, the system will charge items at their Default Rate within the file.

  5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 for each Fee Earner.

  6. To assign Matters with the new Rate Category, visit the Matter tab and select Rate Category.

DPS Grade Rates

Set up Grade Rates

  1. In the DPSSQLConfig, click on Application on the left hand side.

  2. You will see a few tabs along the bottom of the window. Click on Grades.

  3. At the top is a drop down which shows the currently selected application. Click this dropdown to change the application type e.g. CP (Convey Purchase).

  4. Just below this dropdown you will see another dropdown titled Grade which allows you to select a lettered grade. Each letter will have a separate set of rates for each activity. For example, Grade A may have Call In set to Β£25 whereas Grade B might have it set to Β£30. These values denote the hourly rate.

Set up Grade Rates for a user

  1. In the DPSSQLConfig, navigate to Users and Groups on the bottom left hand pane and then click on Users in the top left hand pane.

  2. Double click on the user who you would like to set up the grades for. This should bring up a new window.

  3. At the top of this window, click the User DPS Application tab. Here you will see the applications a user has access to.

  4. There are 3 columns, App, Grade, and First Menu. To change the grade a user has for any application, select the correct Grade letter under the Grade column for that user beside the application type. For example, if you would like to apply Grade D for the CP app, select D from the dropdown under the Grade column next to the CP entry.
