Moving/copying time is a 2 stage process. Please follow the steps below:

Stage 1 - Moving/Copying the time entry. (Can be carried out by a standard user)

  1. In DPS One Office go to File.

  2. Select Matters.

  3. Enter Matter Ref of matter you wish to move/copy the time from and click Search.

  4. Double-click on the highlighted row.

  5. Click OK.

  6. The file label will appear, click OK.

  7. Repeat steps 1-6 for the matter you wish to move/copy the time to.

You will now have 2 Open Files which will appear under the blue Case Management banner on the top left-hand side of your screen.

  1. Click on the matter which you wish to move/copy the time from, then scroll down the file history in the Centre of your screen and locate the item of time to move/copy.

  2. Left click (and hold) on the item then drag over to the Open Files section on the top left-hand side of your screen then release on the matter you wish to move/copy the time to.

  3. Select an option, either Copy or Move the item.

Stage 2 - Transferring the WIP (Cost) associated with the moved/copied time record. (Needs to be carried out by an accounts user)

  1. From the DPS FD home screen go to Admin.

  2. Select Admin Tasks.

  3. Select W/O or TFR tab.

  4. Enter the Matter Ref of the matter where the time is being moved/copied from on the left-hand side of the screen.

  5. Click Find.

  6. Enter the Matter Ref of the matter where the time is being moved/copied to on the right-hand side of the screen.

  7. Click Find.

  8. Locate the WIP entry by scrolling down the items of the matter on the left-hand side of the screen and Select the item.

  9. Click the Transfer button in the Centre of the screen.

  10. Click Yes.

  11. Click OK.

Now the time recording and WIP (cost) associated with the time will have been copied or moved to the new matter.

Edit - 8th April 2025 - This process has been streamlined in DPS release 16.1.2. Now stage 1 above is all that it required, once diary entries are dragged and dropped to another file, the WIP cost will move with the time recording, eliminating the need to to also perform a WIP transfer.
