Dark Spot Care FAQ's

How long before I see results?

Most patients may begin to notice fading with consistent use. Individual results vary of consistent use, depending on the depth and type of discoloration.

Is this safe for sensitive skin?

Hydroquinone can cause sensitivity in some people. Your provider will review your skin and may recommend starting at a lower concentration or easing in gradually.

Do I need a prescription for this?

Yes. Prescription-strength Hydroquinone requires a provider consultation. All DoctorDerm formulas are prescription-grade and require a licensed provider’s review.

Can I use this while pregnant?

Tretinoin is not recommended during pregnancy. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, please inform your provider during your assessment.

What types of dark spots does this treat?

This formula is designed to address hyperpigmentation, melasma, post-acne marks, age spots, and sun damage. Your provider will review your specific concerns during your assessment.

How is this different from OTC brightening products?

OTC brightening products use lower-strength actives that may not interrupt melanin production at the same level as prescription Hydroquinone. This formula combines prescription-grade Hydroquinone with Tretinoin and Niacinamide, which may provide different results compared to OTC products.

Do I need to wear SPF?

Yes. Sun protection is recommended when using this formula. Sun exposure may affect the brightening effects and can worsen hyperpigmentation. Daily SPF 30+ is strongly recommended.

How is this different from what I get at a regular dermatologist office?

DoctorDerm treatments combine ingredients into customized formulas that you typically wouldn’t receive as a single prescription in a traditional dermatology office. Our treatments are prepared and delivered directly to your door, giving you a complete skincare experience without the wait times or in-office visits.
