Why This Happens
DripJobs now flags duplicate contacts to keep your records clean and your communication accurate. In the past, duplicate contacts could split deal information across records or send messages to the wrong person when two contacts shared the same email or phone number. To prevent this, DripJobs won't let you save a contact if its email or phone number already exists on another contact, even an archived one. If you're trying to edit a contact and see a duplicate warning, you'll first need to update the duplicate you don't plan to use.
Quick Tricks To Resolve It
Email: Add "+1" before the "@" on the duplicate's email (e.g., test@gmail.com becomes test+1@gmail.com). Emails sent to this address still reach the same inbox, but DripJobs recognizes it as a different email. Note: most major providers like Gmail and Outlook support this, but some email providers may not.
Phone number: Phone numbers don't have an equivalent trick, so replace the duplicate's number with a placeholder, such as 000-000-0001. Once the duplicate is updated, you'll be able to edit and save your main contact without the warning.
1. Find Your Original Contact
This contact will be the one you want to keep creating deals with
2. Find Your Duplicate
3. Click on 'Edit' on the Duplicate
4. See the Duplicate Being Flagged
5. Make Sure to Give the Duplicate a New Email and Phone Number
For email addresses, you can just add a '+1, +2, +3, etc.' before the '@' and the system will recognize it as a new email, but you will still be able to send emails to that address.
For a duplicate phone number, you will actually need to use a number with a placeholder, such as 000-000-0001.
