Your ELDT Theory Completion Record: What Happens Next?

Learn what happens after you complete your ELDT theory training.

Written by Andrei Zakhareuski

Congratulations on completing your ELDT theory course with Driving-Tests.org! You're one step closer to meeting the requirements for your commercial driver's license or endorsement. Here's what happens next:

1. Reporting Your Theory Completion to the TPR

After you complete all required course components and achieve a Passing Probability of at least 80%, we report your successful ELDT theory training completion to the FMCSA Training Provider Registry (TPR). This creates the electronic record of your successful theory training completion.

2. Verifying Your Completion Record

You can check whether your theory training completion record appears in the TPR by visiting the TPR Check page and entering your details.

3. Receiving Your Course Completion Certificate

After we report your theory training completion to the TPR, you will receive confirmation on the website and by email. The email includes a PDF course completion certificate for your records. This PDF is separate from the electronic completion record reported to the TPR.

4. Completing the Appropriate Next Step

Class A, Class B, Passenger, and School Bus applicants must also complete the applicable behind-the-wheel training before the state-administered skills test. This training must be completed with a separate provider listed for the applicable behind-the-wheel training type.

You can find a provider on the Training Provider Registry. HazMat applicants are not required to complete behind-the-wheel ELDT; the required theory training must be completed before the state-administered knowledge test.

Your theory completion record is an important milestone. Be sure to follow the testing and licensing requirements that apply to your CDL class or endorsement.
