Custom properties can be used to introduce concepts specific to your organization in the catalog. They are used to further enrich your documentation and facilitate filtering and governance.
These properties can be managed via the Admin Portal > Properties.ย

On the Properties page, you can:
Add custom properties.
Edit or delete custom properties. Properties added to the layout of an asset type need to be removed there first before you can delete them.

Each property is of a specific type, defining its behaviour and available options.
Properties of type Dropdown
Properties of type Dropdown
Includes the following property types:
Dropdown list - single select A list of values from which one value can be selected per asset.
Dropdown list - multiple select A list of values from which multiple values can be selected per asset.
Dropdown hierarchical - multiple select A hierarchical list of values from which multiple values can be selected per asset. Only leaf nodes (= the values without child values) can be selected from the list.
Collaborator Link dScribe users and teams to an asset.
Properties of any of these types can be used to document assets, filter search results and create views.

Properties of type Text
Rich Text Editor Allows to enter any text into the documentation. This type also allows to add @-mentions and hyperlinks.
Date picker A single date picker
Security-enabled Properties
Only relevant for customers on an Enterprise Plan.
If you would like to use a custom property as context for your authorization model, you can set that property as security enabled:
Doing so will make that property available when defining access policies:
In the example above, users receive Create+Edit+Delete permissions on all asset types where Domain = 'Finance' and Validation status = "Not validated". Only properties of type dropdown can be security-enabled.
Adding custom properties to an asset's detail page
Once a custom property has been linked to an asset type, it can be added to that asset type's layout. See Asset Types.
