The Messaging Tab is where you'll find the settings and options that relate to messages (email and SMS/text) sent to you as a teacher, and to your students and billing and lesson contacts.

Let's get started in your...

Messaging Tab

To get into your Settings, click on your name in the top right of the screen, or the pull-down menu, and click on the Settings option.

When you get to the Settings area, click the Messaging Tab.

By Default the System Message Templates sub tab will be selected.

System Message Templates

When you select the System Message Template sub tab, you'll see a list the different messages the system sends out.

Point to the question mark icon to find out more about each system message, and click on the Subject Line link on any message to edit the system template for that message.

Editing and customizing the messages that go out from Duet allows you to give the message the your voice or the feel you'd like the parents and students to experience.

When you click on a template, the Edit Template Window opens. Here you can customize and format the email and SMS templates that are sent from Duet.

To preview a sample email, click the preview (magnifying glass) icon. You must save the email to see those changes in the preview.

Using Variables

In the editor window, you can click the option on the toolbar pull down that says Select Variable to add customized items to your email that will change depending on the situation. For example, a variable for Student's First Name would be replaced with the actual name of the student when the email is sent. This allows personalized mass emails to be sent to your students.

My Templates

If you click on the My Templates sub tab (under the Messaging tab), you'll see the area where you can create personal email templates that you can use over and over to easily make an email you use often - like a student recital reminder, or an upcoming concert notification.

To create an email template, click on the + Add New Personal Template button. The Add New Template window will open; create and format the text, then click the Save button.

When creating a new email, you'll see your new email template on the Use a template? pull down menu.

Student Preferences

The Student Preferences area is where you choose what system message templates will be sent to your students via Email / SMS. Also, you will be able to choose how many hours/days before the event these messages are sent.

In the Send email and Send SMS area, choose how many days or hours before these messages will be sent.

In the Student System Template selection area, choose whether the students will receive and Email and/or an SMS (SMS currently for U.S.A. only).

In the Teacher Preferences section, choose which system notifications you will receive, and how you will receive them (Email / SMS / Push Notification)

When you've finished your selections, click the Save Messaging Settings button.
