The Rates you create in Duet specify how you will bill a student

Whether it's Per Lesson, Weekly, Monthly, or Semester billing, you can customize what you need to bill for with a Rate.

You want to create Rates in Duet for the things you bill for the most. For example, if you teach voice and piano, you can create a basic Rate set up like...

  • Piano Students

  • Voice Students

... and then simply assign these rates to your students.

But maybe you have multiple levels of pricing, you can break those down further, each with their own price.

  • Beginning / Intermediate Piano Students

  • Advanced Piano Students

  • Beginning / Intermediate Voice Students

  • Advanced Voice Students

The main idea here is that you create Rates for the lessons you do most often.

Let's say you're a vocal teacher and you do mostly beginning and Intermediate students, but you do have some advanced students from the local college that you charge a higher cost for lessons, your rate set up could be..

  • Beginning/Intermediate Voice Students - $45 per lesson

  • Advanced Voice Students - $65 per lesson

These rates will work just fine for your setup.

And the beauty of having the Rates set in one place is that, if you decide to increase your price for lessons, you can just change your Rates to the new fee, and then going forward all lessons will be charged at the new Rates. If you have 30-40 students, that is a real time saver to only have to change just 2 Rates instead of changing each student's price individually.

So, let's get started in the...

Rates Tab Settings:

To get into your Settings, click on your name in the top right of the screen, or the pull-down menu, and click on the Settings option.

When you get to the Settings area, click on the Rates tab.

Here are the different fields and their descriptions:

  • Name - the name of your Rate package FYI - parents and students will be able to see this name label.

  • Amount - the amount to charge for this Rate

  • Every - this will be the number of how your student is charged. For example, if you charge $40 for every 1 lesson, put a 1 in this field.

  • Period ** - this is how often the student will be charged. For example, if you charge $500 for every 1 semester, make this field be Semester / Term. See below ** for the different settings you get when you change the period.

  • Description - this is where you can write out more details about the rate package. Only you as a teacher will see this.

When you're finished configuring your Rate package, click on the Create New Rate Package button.

** Options for the different Period selections
