If you need to simply remove some events from the calendar, please consult our help article, "How do I remove events from the calendar in Duet?"
In some cases, there will be a need to remove a specific student from the calendar. Most often this is needed when they are no longer taking lessons from you. The easiest way to handle this is to change the student's Status to Former. When you do this, the software will automatically remove all future events where that student is the only participant. If there are any future events where that student is a participant, but there are other participants, the software will remove that student from the event, but the events themselves will remain, with the other participants still listed.
It's important to note that, when this is done, if an event is scheduled on or before the day that the status is changed, the software will not remove the student from that event. For example, let's say you have a group event for several of your students that meets every other Tuesday at 5:00pm. The morning of one of the Tuesdays when this event is scheduled you receive a phone call from the parent of a student who is scheduled to attend that day, and you are told that they will not be taking lessons from you any more. If you change that student's Status to Former that day, the software will remove that student from the list of participants for all future scheduled instances of this group event. However, it will not remove the student from the one that was scheduled for that day, nor will it remove them from any of the past instances. When you go to edit the event, because the student is now Former, they will not be shown in the list of student participants. But, in the database, they are still listed, and you can enter or edit any notes specific to them. If there is a cost associate with the event, this will show up on the Tlog Billing HIstory for this family. So you'll want to remove them from the group event before changing their Status to Former. If you had received the call the day before that scheduled instance, and changed them to Former on that day, then the software would have removed them automatically, because the event was still scheduled in the future.
If you need to remove a student from the participation list of a group event for all future instances of that repeating event, you can simply edit the group event, click the x next to the student's name to remove them from the list of participants, and then save the changes for this and all future events in the series.
