About This Tutorial

There may be times when you only need to create a one time lesson. This tutorial shows you how to do that.

Create a Lesson That Only Occurs Once

Let's say that you have a student that normally takes lessons every other week.

One day, your student comes up to you and requests help for an upcoming audition she has. The lesson will need to be during a week that this student usually isn't scheduled.

Once you decide on a date and time, you need to create this one time lesson in your calendar.

  1. Click on Calendar.

  2. Find the date that the lesson is to take place. In this example, it will be May 16th, 2022.

  3. Click on the date May 16th, 2022 and click on Add Lesson.

  4. Click in the Student drop down box and select the student. In this example we chose Sally Williams.

  5. At the Date field make sure the date is correct. And it is.

  6. Click in the Time field and choose what time the lesson will start. 10:00am for example.

  7. Click on the Add Detail's down arrow.

This will give you more options.

  8. In the Title field, you can change the title. In this example, we will not change it.

Note: This title is what shows on your calendar.

  9. Click on the Add description box to give some details about this lesson. For example, why the lesson is taking place.

  10. You can change the Location and Category fields by click on their down arrows and making another choice. In this example, we will keep them as is.

  11. Click in the Duration field to change the length of the lesson. In this example, we will keep it as is.

Note: This is the time frame that your calendar will reserve for this lesson.

  12. Next, choose if you will either charge your student their default rate package or create a new rate for them. Here is what each option does:

Use Student's Default Rate: This means that you will use their existing rate package. If their rate package charges them $100.00 per week, the lesson is included. Thus no additional charges will show up on their invoice. Same for monthly and per semester rate packages. However, if you charge the student per lesson then that student will get charged for this lesson.

Set a Different Rate Per Student for This Lesson: What this allows you to do is charge your student for this lesson. For example, if their rate package charges them $100.00 per week, this lesson is not included. The student will see an additional charge on their invoice for this lesson. That charge is whatever you set it to when you select this option.

In this case, select Use student's default rate.

  13. Click on the Apply Make-Up Credit box. Look to see if there are any make-up credits you would like to apply. In this case there are no make-up credits to apply.

  14. Click on Create New Lesson button. This will open the New Lesson Created popup box.

  15. In the New Lesson Created popup box, click on the OK button.

Note: This is letting you know that email and text/SMS notifications are not set up. These notifications would let your student know a new lesson has been created for them.

That one time lesson now shows up in your calendar.

Note: This lesson will also show up in your student's calendar.

When notifications are set up your students will receive an email and/or a text message letting them know a new lesson has been created for them. See the Related Tutorials section below, for a link to instructions, on how to setup these notifications.
