High Accuracy Mode Bleeding: Requires the 'add' prefix with bleeding commands

Learn why bleeding commands need the 'add' prefix when High Accuracy Mode Bleeding is on, when to use it, and how to toggle on the desktop app or Chrome extension.

High Accuracy Mode Bleeding is a setting in Bola that prioritizes clinical accuracy by filtering noise. When it is on, bleeding commands require the "add" prefix.

Without "add," Bola ignores the command. All other Perio commands (probing depths, recession, mobility, furcation, suppuration) work the same in either state.

This setting only affects bleeding. It is separate from High Accuracy Mode, which controls the 3 consecutive readings rule for PDs and GMs.

If you are a long-time Bola user who recently noticed bleeding stopped charting the way it used to, High Accuracy Mode Bleeding is almost always the reason.

How bleeding commands change in this mode

You must say "add" before bleeding commands.

Examples that work:

  • "Add bleeding"

  • "Add bleeding on tooth 14, buccal"

  • "Add bleeding mesial"

Examples that will not chart:

  • "Bleeding"

  • "Bleeding 14 buccal"

All other commands chart the same way in both modes.

Default state

High Accuracy Mode Bleeding is off by default. Most users turn it on when they have had Bola pick up the word "bleeding" in casual conversation and chart it accidentally.

How to turn it on or off

Desktop App

  1. Open the Bola desktop app

  2. Click Options

  3. Click Charting Settings

  4. Toggle High Accuracy Mode Bleeding on or off

Chrome Extension

  1. Click the cog wheel (two icons to the right of the mic button) in the Bola extension

  2. Click Mic Settings

  3. Toggle High Accuracy Mode Bleeding on or off

The setting saves and takes effect automatically. No restart required.

Should I use High Accuracy Mode Bleeding?

Turn it on if:

  • You work in a noisy operatory

  • You have had bleeding chart on teeth you did not call out

  • You want maximum control over what gets entered for bleeding

  • Your accuracy issues are specific to bleeding (not PDs or GMs)

Leave it off if:

  • You prefer faster, more conversational charting

  • You have been using Bola without it and your accuracy is already good

  • You do not want to remember the "add" prefix for bleeding

You can toggle at any time. Try it both ways and see what works best for your workflow.

Troubleshooting

Bleeding stopped working after a recent update. Check whether High Accuracy Mode Bleeding got turned on. If it did, either turn it off or start using "add bleeding" in your commands.

"Add bleeding" still is not charting. Confirm your mic is picking you up (search "Sound" in Windows → Manage input sound devices → test the mic). If the mic is fine, restart Bola Voice Assistant from the system tray and try again.

"Add bleeding" charts on the wrong tooth. That is likely the Bleeding Tooth Offset setting, not this one. See Bleeding Tooth Offset for how it shifts bleeding marks back by one tooth.

Not sure which mode you are in. Open the desktop app → Options → Charting Settings, or in the extension click the cog wheel → Mic Settings. The toggle shows the current state.
