Step 1: Go to "Documents" Tab
Once you're signed in to EarnBetter, go to your "Documents" tab. On desktop, this lives in the top left corner of your screen. On mobile, you'll access "Documents" through the menu in the top right.
Step 2: Navigate to the cover letter you're interested in editing.
When you click on "Documents", the default screen shows all of the base resumes you've created. You'll want to click into "Cover Letters" (or "custom docs" if you're looking for a cover letter that you've customized for a specific job).
For this article, we're going to dive into editing and updating a cover letter. Click on the thumbnail or title of the cover letter you want to edit (see screenshot below).
Step 3: Edit the content, design or tone of the cover letter
See screenshot below for cover letter editor:
In the top left corner, you'll see options to format any of the text, change the alignment of any of the text, and/or add lists with bullets of numbers.
On the left side, you'll see the option to change the "tone" of your cover letter. You can choose from 6 different options for tone: Standard, Professional, Confident, Playful, Informative or Inspirational.
If you want to change the tone, click on a new one and then select "regenerate cover letter".
You can edit any of the text in the cover letter itself. If you look at the arrow in the screenshot, I've highlight a paragraph - you can go into any section of the cover letter to make edits or changes.
AI generated documents are awesome and save people a ton of time, but it's important to read through any AI-generated document to ensure it is accurate, it sounds like you, and everything resonates with you.
Step 4: You're done! Now, you can download your updated cover letter.
And that's it. Now you can hit "download" in the top right corner to download your updated cover letter. All of your progress will also be saved in real-time. You can access this cover letter in the future in the same place where you originally found it to start editing it (either under "cover letters" or "custom docs" in your "documents" section).
