While Tadelakt is a water-resistant lime plaster when properly applied and sealed over a required waterproof membrane, it performs best on vertical surfaces where water can drain or run off. Horizontal surfaces like shower floors experience continuous water contact, soap accumulation, and mechanical wear, which can compromise performance over time.
Staining: Prolonged exposure to standing water, soap residue, and body oils can lead to visible discoloration or uneven patina.
Durability: Continuous foot traffic and water pooling accelerate wear, reducing the lifespan of the finish.
Surface marking: Setting objects such as soap dishes, shampoo bottles, or bath accessories directly on the floor can trap moisture and cause ring marks or localized staining.
Maintenance: Floors require frequent re-sealing to maintain water repellency, which can be impractical for long-term use.

Tub surrounds and vanity aprons
Other vertical interior wet-area surfaces where water runs off easily
