Why Care & Maintenance Matters
The long-term performance and appearance of an Earthaus Stone Finish depend on both installation quality and ongoing owner care. Correct cleaning and preventative maintenance will keep the finish durable and visually consistent.
Note: Earthaus cannot guarantee finish outcomes once installed. Proper care is the owner's responsibility.
Routine Care
Cleaning Stone Finish:
Use a gentle, plant-based diluted soap for cleaning sealed Stone Finish.
Avoid chemical or acidic cleaning products, which can damage the finish.
Recommended: Earthaus Olive Oil Soap Sealer.
Cleaning steps:
Dilute 5 parts warm water : 1 part Olive Oil Soap Sealer.
Wipe surface gently with a non-abrasive cloth.
Rinsing not required.
Perform routine cleaning at least annually.
Cleaning can be done more frequently as needed without harm.
Maintenance. Routine cleaning is the only maintenance requirement specified. No waxing or additional sealing is required beyond the initial installation and standard cleaning.
Damage Types: Risks & Repair
1. Staining
Risk:
Substances containing acids, tannins, or chemicals can cause staining.
Wipe spills immediately with a dry cloth.
After wiping, promptly clean with diluted plant-based soap.
Repair:
Do not start with water or soap.
Attempt dry removal: lightly sand the stain with a mildly abrasive washcloth.
If unsuccessful, try using a Magic Eraser (per manufacturer's instructions).
If neither method works, patching may be required.
2. Cracking
Risk:
Long hairline cracks typically indicate substrate movement.
Cracks may reappear if the substrate continues shifting.
Repair:
Repairs should be evaluated by a plaster professional.
Note: repairs may be more noticeable than the original crack.
3. Chipping
Risk:
Chipping is rare on vertical surfaces.
90° corners are most vulnerable to chipping.
Repair:
Fill chipped or nicked areas with Stone Plaster.
Seal repairs with Olive Oil Soap Sealer.
Patching
Small patching may be possible for stains, cracks, or chips.
Patches may remain visible depending on the area and skill of the repairer.
Large damaged areas may require full refinishing for consistent appearance.
