Please be advised of current policies regarding ATA Carnet imports and transits in Bahrain.

  1. Intended use : Bahrain accepts ATA Carnets under the Exhibitions and Fairs designation, which includes similar events and demonstrations.

  2. Transit operations - ATA Carnets are accepted for transit operations.

  3. Unaccompanied goods - ATA Carnets are NOT accepted for unaccompanied goods.

  4. Final date of re-exportation - ATA Carnet entries may be restricted to six months.

  5. Split/partial shipments - Bahrain does not allow partial or split shipments. Any shipment entering Bahrain must be re-exported in its entirety.

  6. Customs office at Bahrain Airport - The office will process ATA Carnets from Saturday to Thursday, from 7:00am to 7:00pm. ATA Carnet Holders traveling by plane need to plan accordingly. At present, it is not clear if air and sea cargo offices will also follow these same hours.

  7. Penalties - For goods that are not re-exported, penalties may reach a maximum of three times the value of the goods. Roanoke is seeking further clarification on this matter.

  8. Late re-exportation - All ATA Carnet goods not being re-exported timely from Bahrain by the stipulated date of re-exportation must advise the authorities in advance at the following address. Be sure to note the ATA Carnet number in all correspondence.
