You must specify the name of the individual presenting the ATA Carnet to Japan's customs in the 'Authorized Representatives' section of this application; otherwise, your entry into Japan may be delayed. If your Authorized Representative changes during the course of the year, call your Carnet Service Bureau for guidance.
ATA Carnets for a vehicle being driven on an open road for a rally must contact Japanese customs or local transport bureau for the necessary procedures before obtaining the ATA Carnet.
All goods imported must be timely re-exported as Japanese customs will not allow goods to be transferred onto a new carnet.
Sporting equipment for international sports events can be covered under ATA Carnets as Professional Equipment or Exhibitions & Fairs.
Using a Carnet does not eliminate the usual requirements for restricted goods or licensing controls, and consumable and disposal goods should not be imported under a Carnet even if they are to be used for the international sports event.
