Introduction

Dunning Management is used to manage failed subscription payments.It supports the process of notifying customers, retrying payments, and handling subscriptions after repeated payment failures.

This feature helps merchants recover revenue from failed or delinquent payments in a controlled manner.

Why It Matters

Failed payments can lead to involuntary churn if they are not managed correctly. Dunning Management allows merchants to define retry attempts and outcomes after failures, ensuring consistent payment recovery and clear handling of unpaid subscriptions.

How to Manage Dunning Management

Step 1: Access the Shopify Admin Portal

  • Log in to the Shopify admin portal

  • Locate the Easy Subscription app from the Apps section

Step 2: Open Settings

  • Click on the Easy Subscription app

  • Select Settings

  • Click on Dunning Management

Step 3: Configure Dunning Management

  • Enable the Dunning Management feature

  • Set the number of retry attempts for failed payments

  • Define the action that occurs after the maximum retry attempts are reached

Step 4: Save the Configuration

  • Review all entered details carefully

  • Click the Save button to apply the changes

  • Enter retry attempt values carefully to avoid excessive or insufficient payment retries

  • Review post-failure actions to align with subscription and revenue policies

  • Test configurations periodically to ensure correct behavior
