Setting Up Tags for Subscribers and Subscription Orders

Introduction

The Tags settings allow merchants to automatically apply and manage tags related to subscription orders and customers.These tags support operational tracking, reporting, and identification of subscription-related activity within Shopify.

Tags provide structured visibility into subscription data.They help merchants identify subscription orders, active subscribers, delivery timelines, and sequential order tracking without manual effort.

How to Manage Tags

Access the Tags Settings

  • Log in to the Shopify Admin.

  • Open the Easy Subscription App.

  • Navigate to Settings.

  • Select Tags to view available tag options.

1. Enable Tag for All Subscription Orders

  • Apply a tag to every order that contains subscription products.

  • This tag identifies all subscription-based orders in the Orders section.

Operational use:

  • Filter and review subscription orders.

  • Separate subscription orders from one-time purchases.

2. Enable Tag for Customers with Active Subscriptions

  • Apply a tag to customers who currently have active subscriptions.

  • The tag updates automatically based on subscription status.

Operational use:

  • Identify active subscribers.

  • Monitor the total number of active subscription customers.

3. Enable Automated Incremental Tagging

  • Assign a unique, sequential tag to each new order.

  • Each order receives an incremented identifier.

Operational use:

  • Track order volume progression.

  • Support internal auditing or reporting workflows.

4. Enable Delivery Date Tag for Subscription Orders

  • Add a delivery date tag based on a defined number of days after billing.

  • The tag reflects the expected delivery timeline.

Operational use:

  • Track delivery schedules.

  • Support fulfillment and logistics planning.

Save Configuration

  • Customize tag names and settings as required.

  • Click Save to apply changes.

  • Tags become visible in the Orders and Customers sections of Shopify.

Best Practice

  • Use clear and consistent tag naming conventions.

  • Avoid overlapping tag purposes to maintain reporting clarity.

  • Review tag usage periodically to ensure alignment with operational needs.
