Introduction

Custom Attributes allow merchants to classify products within a contract or order.

They are used to capture additional product-specific information, such as origin, type, or category, for operational or reporting purposes.

For example, a merchant can record the origin type of apples to distinguish products based on their source.

Why It Matters

Custom Attributes help merchants:

  • Identify product variations beyond standard Shopify fields

  • Maintain structured product information within subscription orders

  • Support internal tracking, fulfillment, or reporting requirements

Accurate attribute data ensures consistency across orders and improves operational clarity.

How to Use Custom Attributes

Step 1: Access the Easy Subscription App

  • Log in to the Shopify Admin portal

  • Open the Easy Subscription app

  • Click Subscriptions

  • Navigate to the Orders section

Step 2: Open the Order

  • Select the order you want to update

  • The order details page will open

Step 3: Add or Update Custom Attributes

  • Click on the relevant product within the order

  • Select the three-dot menu on the right side of the product

  • Click Attributes

  • Enter the required attribute details

Step 4: Review Saved Attributes

  • After the order is placed, attributes are visible in the Orders section

  • Attribute details remain available within the order record

Best Practice

  • Enter Custom Attribute values carefully to ensure data accuracy

  • Use consistent naming conventions across products

  • Review attributes before finalizing the order
