All luggage stored through ecbo cloak is covered by insurance of up to 100,000 yen per item through our insurance partner, Tokyo Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance. However, this coverage applies to your luggage as a whole — it does not extend to damage caused to the contents of your bag by other stored items.
As stated in our Terms of Service (Article 17.7), ecbo cloak bears no responsibility for damage caused to a user's luggage by another user's stored items.
Examples of what this means:
Another user's leaking bottle damages your bag — this is not covered by ecbo cloak's insurance
Another user's item falls onto or scratches yours during storage — ecbo cloak is not liable
Damage from items that should not have been stored (prohibited items) — ecbo cloak is not liable
Stores are required to store luggage safely and separately, and to refuse items that pose a risk to other stored luggage (such as leaking or poorly packaged items). If another user's item clearly should not have been accepted by the store and caused damage to yours, please contact ecbo cloak support — we will investigate the store's handling and take appropriate action.
However, please be aware that ecbo cloak's liability in such situations is limited as described in our Terms of Service. We strongly recommend not storing irreplaceable or high-value items at ecbo cloak locations.
