Can the store check the contents of my luggage?

In rare circumstances, store staff may need to verify the contents of stored luggage for safety reasons.

In the vast majority of cases, your luggage will be stored exactly as you leave it — store staff are not permitted to open or inspect your bags without reason.

However, as outlined in our Terms of Service (Article 1.11–1.12), there are limited circumstances where a store may need to check your luggage:

  • Safety verification — if there is a reasonable concern that luggage may contain dangerous, prohibited, or illegal items, the store may request to inspect the contents with your consent

  • Unusual circumstances — if luggage appears damaged, leaking, or poses a risk to other stored items or people at the store

If you are asked for an inspection and decline, the store has the right to refuse or cancel the storage contract. In this case, a refund may not apply.

In the unlikely event that a store has reasonable grounds to suspect illegal items are present, they are permitted to take necessary measures including notifying the relevant authorities. By using ecbo cloak, you agree to these conditions as part of our Terms of Service.

This is an extremely rare situation — the vast majority of users will never encounter it. ecbo cloak is simply a luggage storage service, and our stores are there to help make your day easier.
