What is the maximum compensation I can receive?

The maximum compensation ecbo cloak can provide, and why we recommend not storing high-value items.

In the rare event that something goes wrong with your storage experience and you believe ecbo cloak or a store partner is at fault, it helps to understand the limits of compensation that may apply.

Insurance compensation (for luggage damage, loss, or theft):
Up to 100,000 yen per item, based on the item's depreciated value at the time of the incident. This is handled through our insurance partner, Tokyo Marine & Nichido. See How does the luggage insurance work? for full details.

ecbo cloak's direct liability (separate from insurance):
As outlined in our Terms of Service (Article 10.2), in cases where ecbo cloak is directly liable for damages, our responsibility is limited to direct and actual losses only, and the maximum amount is capped at the total fees you paid to ecbo cloak in the 3 months prior to the incident.

In practice, for most users this means the compensation cap would be a relatively small amount. This is why we strongly recommend:

  • Not storing high-value, irreplaceable, or sentimental items at ecbo cloak locations

  • Not storing items worth significantly more than 100,000 yen

  • Taking out your own travel or luggage insurance if you are carrying valuables

ecbo cloak is designed for convenient short-term storage of everyday luggage. For full details of our liability terms, please refer to our Terms of Service.
