Where to change plans
Sign in and go to My Account. The plan panel shows your current plan and the options to move up or down. Every change asks you to confirm exactly what will happen — and what it costs — before anything is billed. If you're signed in and visit the membership page instead, the plan cards read "Your current plan", "Upgrade to…" and "Switch to…" and take you to that same panel.
Upgrading
Upgrades take effect immediately. You pay only the prorated difference for the time remaining in your current year, and the new access (deeper archive, ECG STAT, Skills exams, CME) opens right away. Your renewal date does not move.
Downgrading
Downgrades take effect at your next renewal — you keep everything you've paid for until then, and there's no mid-cycle refund or credit. After you schedule a downgrade, the plan panel shows when it will apply, and you can click "Keep my current plan instead" any time before the renewal to undo it.
Longtime members
If you've been with us since before the new platform, your price and renewal date are protected — they never change unless you choose a new plan. In a small number of cases (for example, when your renewal is only a few weeks away) the plan panel can't switch you in place; it sends you to checkout instead, where you start the new plan today. The time you've already paid for carries over automatically — your remaining paid days are added on before your first charge on the new plan, so nothing you've paid for is lost. Either way, the price you see before confirming is the whole story.
When plan changes are unavailable
Renewal turned off: turn auto-renewal back on first, then change plans.
Membership paused: resume first, then switch.
Group seats: your plan is the group's plan — talk to your group leader.
