What pausing does
A pause is a true clock-stop. While paused you can't access member content, but you also aren't using up membership time — your renewal date slides out by exactly the length of the pause. Resume early and you get the unused pause time back, to the day.
Pause from My Account → Manage membership → Pause. You choose the length (30 days is the default) and you can resume any time.
The rules
Minimum pause: 14 days
Available after your first 30 days of membership
Up to 2 pauses per membership year, and 3 months of total paused time per year
After resuming, 4 months of active membership before your next pause
If a pause isn't available yet, the page tells you which rule applies and when it unlocks. If your situation doesn't fit the rules — deployment, parental leave, illness — message us. A human can always help.
Good to know
The Monday email: by default it stops while you're paused, but there's a toggle to keep it coming if you'd like to keep reading along.
Group seats can't pause individually — seats belong to the group. Your group leader can free up and reassign seats instead.
Free trials can't be paused.
