Task Budgets
Each task must be associated with a Cost Centre and can be broken down into the following cost categories:
Labour Cost
Material Cost
Contractor Cost
Equipment Cost
When tasks are added to a project, they are also grouped by Cost Centre. The Cost Centre setup occurs during the Project Creation/Editing process known as the Project Budget.
Clicking the plus (+) signs will expand the Cost Centres and display all tasks under each Cost Centre.
Add all the budgeting costs for the above categories. Use the plus (+) button to add comments as needed. Click Save & Next, and be sure to click Completed at the final step to save your work.
When editing task variations, use the pencil button and select New Budget to update your project as your go. As you get site quotes, you can enter the quote prices which will adjust your Remaining Spend against the New Budget.
Note: Once Task Variations have been approved and added to your Gantt chart, the cost categories can be edited from the Planning tab. |
New Budgets
When editing tasks or adding Task Variations, you have the ability to add a new budget for the changes. This is particularly useful to keep variation costs separate from your original budget for tracking and reporting purposes.
Budget | The original budget for the task. Was entered during project setup. |
New Budget | New amount. Tracked separately from original budget for reporting and monitoring performance.
Examples:
|
Exhausted | Exhausted spend is a total of all cost (materials, contractor, labour, equipment) already used. |
Remaining Spend | The budget less exhausted spend. |
You can also use the plus (+) button to add comments/notes explaining the need for the budget changes. This is also a great place to provide the quote reference for the new budget value.
