This article covers:

Receiving eConsults directly into EMIS workflow

Please note, prior to receiving eConsults directly into EMIS workflow, you will need to provide us with your Mesh ID.

Finding your EMIS Mesh ID

Retrieving a Mesh ID within EMIS Web is a simple 3 step process.

Open EMIS Web, click on the 'EMIS Orb', 'Workflow' then 'Workflow Manager'.

Once you have clicked 'Workflow Manager' click the 'Config' icon shown in the header under 'Admin'.

Finally, click 'Mailboxes' and the MESH ID will show, in this example is is 'f123457hc'.

Please Note: Mailbox Type is DTS.

Please email us at practice.support@econsult.health with your MESH ID if you would like to test Emis delivery.

Navigating direct flow into EMIS Workflow

To configure this interop, refer to your ‘Document Management’ folder in EMIS workflow.

eConsults will arrive in ‘unmatched’ or ‘awaiting filing’.

eConsults are documented as ‘Clinical Document’ in ‘Document Type’.

To view an eConsult, select Clinical Document (as highlighted below) and click on ‘Document’,

When filing the eConsult to the patient record, we recommend you use the following:

  • Type = SNOMED code (eConsultation via online application)

  • Source = eConsult Health Ltd

  • Document title = template name (e.g Administrative help)

This allows you to easily identify the eConsult in the patient record as it has been coded.

Receiving eConsults to your practice's email inbox

Right-click on the attachment and select ‘Save target as’ to save the completed template in a folder on your computer.

Go to EMIS and press [F5] on your keyboard to find the patient.

Go to EMIS and press [F6] on your keyboard to go to consultation history. When in the consultations history, click on 'Add > Select Documents > Attach Documents'.

Find the eConsult and double click or click on open to code the document 9G6.

This will open the documents so that you can add a code.

Add eConsult (admin and clinical) to the appointment book

  • Dedicated appointment book for eConsults only. This could be set up so that there is shared responsibility amongst clinicians to process the eConsults in a timely manner.

  • eConsults can be added to a duty triage list to be processed in time order by a duty clinician.

Receive eConsults into our Smart Inbox (Integrated with EMIS)

The easiest way to manage eConsults in EMIS is via our integrated Smart Inbox.

Our Smart Inbox is a customisable and collaborative way to manage your eConsults, and allows you to save eConsults directly into the patient's record on EMIS.

You also have the ability to respond directly to your patients after an eConsult, and save the response straight into the patient's record.

Upgrading to the Smart Inbox is free and included in a standard eConsult contract. To find out more, visit our page here.
