tickers

how to select and switch tickers on edgeful, what asset classes are supported, and how to request tickers that aren't on the platform yet.

summary: edgeful supports futures, stocks, forex, and crypto across all core reports — here's what you need to know about selecting tickers, managing your library, formatting symbols for TradingView, and requesting new ones.

selecting a ticker

the ticker selector is the third control in the left sidebar on any report page. it works as a type-ahead search — start typing a symbol and matching results appear as you type. click any result to load that ticker's data instantly.

your watchlist tickers are always a quick-select away. if you're regularly running reports on the same handful of instruments, add them to your watchlist and they'll be easily accessible in the navigation bar on the right.

checking if a ticker is available

the quickest way to check is to just search for it in edgeful — type your ticker symbol into the search bar (AAPL, TSLA, NVDA, etc.). if it's available, you'll see reports and data populate in the results. if nothing comes up, that ticker hasn't been added yet.

supported asset classes

edgeful supports 4 asset classes:

futures — the primary focus of the platform. all reports and features are built around futures instruments. popular examples include ES, NQ, YM, GC, CL, and RTY.

stocks — individual equities and ETFs are supported across all core reports. most of the popular stuff is already in there — major indices like SPY and QQQ, sector ETFs like XLV, XLK, and XLF, and individual stocks like AAPL, NVDA, TSLA, AMZN, and META. the library is growing regularly — if you're trading it and it's not on edgeful yet, just request it.

forex — forex pairs are available for reporting. most majors (EUR/USD, GBP/USD, etc.) have complete report libraries. if you trade SPX, note that the correct ticker on edgeful is SPX500USD, which is classified under forex.

crypto — major crypto instruments are supported across edgeful's core reports.

a few things to know by asset class

stocks and the session setting

for stocks, the session setting in the left sidebar has no effect on the data. stocks always use Regular Trading Hours (RTH) — 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM ET — regardless of which session is selected. this is just how stock market data is structured.

if you're switching between futures and stocks on the same report, keep in mind the session dropdown is only doing work on the futures side.

ICT opening retracement — futures only

the ICT opening retracement report is only available for futures instruments. it's not supported for stocks or other asset classes that trade on RTH-only schedules. the report needs clean session boundaries to calculate opening ranges accurately — stocks with extended hours trading create gaps in the data that make the report unreliable.

futures tickers roll every quarter

one thing to know if you're trading NQ, ES, YM, RTY, or any of the micros (MNQ, MES, MYM, M2K) — these contracts expire quarterly, and the front month shifts roughly 8 business days before the 3rd Friday of March, June, September, and December.

on the edgeful side, rollovers happen automatically — your reports always reflect the live front-month contract based on volume.

on the TradingView side, you have to do the swap yourself. alerts lock to the specific contract symbol at creation, so when the contract rolls, the old alert silently points at an expired symbol and stops firing. if your algo suddenly goes quiet right around a quarterly roll — that's almost always why.

for the full fix, see contract rollover: why your algo silently stopped trading. for the deeper reference on continuous vs. front-month symbols and how edgeful rolls its data, see futures contract rollovers.

requesting new tickers

if you search for a ticker and it doesn't appear, it may not be active on the platform yet. requesting it is easy — just ask us through the in-app chat.

  1. open the in-app chat (bottom right of the platform)

  2. send the ticker symbols you want added — plain symbols are fine. something like "AAPL, MSFT, GOOGL" works perfectly

  3. send it. the team will get them added, usually within a few days

you don't need to explain why or add any extra context. just the symbols.

once your ticker is active

once a ticker gets added, you'll have access to the full suite of reports on it — price behavior, session ranges, patterns, all of it. new reports are added regularly for supported tickers, so it's worth checking back on symbols you use often. you might find new data that wasn't there a week ago.

formatting symbols for TradingView compatibility

TradingView requires full-year symbol format for alerts and symbol searches to work correctly. use MK2Z2025 not MK2Z25. if you see "symbol does not exist," switch to the full-year format.

when you need it

the full-year format ensures TradingView recognizes your symbol correctly when searching or setting up alerts. always use full-year format for:

  • searching symbols: use full-year format to find instruments without errors

  • webhook alerts: always use full-year format for alerts to execute correctly

common questions

I want to run reports on SPX — which ticker do I use?

use SPX500USD. it's classified under forex on edgeful and gets full report coverage — ORB, IB, session ranges, price behavior, all of it. this is the correct ticker for SPX analysis on the platform.

why can't I find a specific stock on edgeful?

the stock library is large but doesn't include everything. if a ticker doesn't appear when you search, it just hasn't been added yet. request it through the in-app chat and it's typically live within a few days.

my asset doesn't have reports — what can I use instead?

if a specific asset isn't covered, consider using a correlated instrument that is. for example, if you trade a stock that doesn't have edgeful reports yet, running reports on SPY or the relevant sector ETF can give you a useful read on the broader market behavior your stock is likely following.

why does a report say "not available" for my ticker?

some reports are restricted to specific asset classes. the ICT opening retracement, for example, only works on futures — it needs clean session boundaries that stocks with extended hours trading can't provide. if a report isn't available for your ticker, it's an asset class limitation, not a bug.

do all asset classes get the same reports?

most core reports work across all 4 asset classes. the exceptions are reports that rely on specific session mechanics — like ICT opening retracement (futures only). for stocks, the session dropdown doesn't change the data since stocks always use RTH.
