In Live-In Care, Planning Is Critical If you are on placement, you cannot leave a client unsupported. Always contact the on-call manager first.

When You Can Request Leave

You may request leave for:

  • Death of a close family member

  • Serious illness of a dependent

  • School emergency

  • Jury service

  • Emergency at your home

Some leave is paid. Some is unpaid.

What To Do If…

🔹 You receive an emergency call while on placement

Call the on-call manager immediately. Do NOT leave the client alone.

🔹 A family member is taken to hospital

Contact management urgently. Stay in placement until cover arrives.

🔹 You need time off for jury service

Provide documentation as soon as possible.

🔹 You need ongoing time to support an elderly parent

Speak to your manager early to discuss planning options.

Important

Leaving a placement without authorisation:

  • Puts the client at risk.

  • May trigger safeguarding procedures.

  • May lead to disciplinary action.

We Understand Emergencies Happen

We aim to:

  • Be fair.

  • Be compassionate.

  • Keep clients safe.

If in doubt — call the on-call team.
