How to use the maths keyboard

Need to type fractions, symbols, or Greek letters in your answer? The maths keyboard has everything you need to answer questions clearly and correctly ⌨️

Eedi's maths keyboard lets you type mathematical symbols, fractions, and more — whether you're answering a question in a lesson or chatting with your tutor.

Opening the maths keyboard

When you're answering a question or typing in tutor chat, you'll see a small keyboard icon next to the answer box.

Click the keyboard icon next to the answer box to open the maths keyboard.

Submitting your answer

Once you've typed your answer using the keyboard, click the blue arrow button to submit it.

Entering fractions

To type a fraction, click the ÷ symbol on the keyboard. This will format your answer as a fraction in the answer box.

For mixed numbers, write the whole number, leave a space, then use the ÷ to write the fraction.

➗ When you type in a division it will always turn into a fraction using the Maths keypad.

Other symbols and notation

The maths keyboard is split into different sections so you can find what you need quickly. Here's what's available 👇

  • Greek letters — for symbols like π, θ, and α

  • Set notation — for topics involving sets and Venn diagrams

  • Translation vectors and geometric vectors — for geometry and transformation questions

  • Sequence notation — for questions about number patterns

  • Units — including degrees (°) and other common units

  • Squaring and square roots — x², x³, and √

💡 Tip: If you're not sure which section to look in, try the dropdown at the top right of the keyboard — it lets you switch between different categories like "Algebra".

Greek letters
