The Release Brings Some Changes to Nettilasku Usage
The international version of Nettilasku was officially released on June 2, 2023. With this update, sales invoices can now be sent via email globally through app.eemel.io. The user interface is available in Finnish, English, and Spanish. The marketing website is located at www.eemel.com, and foreign companies can begin invoicing by registering directly in the platform.
What Changes for Nettilasku Users?
While this launch does not significantly affect usage within Finland, several updates were made to the domestic version as well. These are outlined below:
Invoice Archive
For international customers, the invoice archive is now hosted on the app.eemel.io domain
The user interface is now automatically shown in Spanish for Spanish users, and in English for all other non-Finnish users
Invoice template languages remain the same: Finnish, Swedish, English, Estonian, and Spanish
Foreign customers can now register directly from the invoice archive to become Eemel users
Bank Account Numbers
Support added for IBAN accounts from any country
New Finnish banks added: Holvi, Viva, Bigbank
Users can still enter national bank account numbers, which are automatically converted to IBAN format
BBAN validation has been removed — all account numbers are now validated based on IBAN format
A new required field “Bank address” has been added (only mandatory for invoicing outside of IBAN countries)
BIC code is always required (8 or 11 characters) and is auto-filled for Finnish banks
VAT (Value Added Tax)
Customer VAT numbers are validated through the VIES system; if the number is invalid, a warning is shown — but the entered number will still be used as-is
If the company is not VAT-registered, the invoice will show 0% VAT, and the system will prompt the user to enter a VAT number to enable other rates
VAT rates are now country-specific (e.g., Spanish VAT for companies based in Spain), but users can still enter custom rates
A new field has been added for invoice-specific VAT type: VAT Invoice / VAT Installment / VAT Quote, which controls how VAT registration info is applied. This field appears in additional info and updates automatically
EU Sales options remain available and can be enabled in settings. The EU customer field is auto-filled when both buyer and seller are based in EU countries
Other Updates
Bank name and address are printed on invoices only for non-IBAN country billing
New invoices follow updated VAT logic — older invoices remain unchanged
Default VAT rate is now set based on the customer’s country
These improvements ensure that Nettilasku and its international version Eemel operate smoothly both in Finland and internationally.
