How to Add, Edit, and Manage Work Entry Categories in Eemel

🔹 Overview of Work Entry Types

Work entry types define the nature of tasks logged in the time tracking system. Each entry must be categorized by type. A common type is Hourly Work, but you can also set up types for Per Diem, Mileage, Contract Work, etc.


🔹 How to Access Work Entry Types

  • Go to Time Tracking → Work Entry Types.


🔹 Search Options

You can use filters to quickly find specific work entry types.


🔹 Add, Edit, or Delete

  • Add: Create a new entry type.

  • Edit: Update an existing entry type’s settings.

  • Delete: Mark an entry type as deleted (note: entries are not removed from the database but marked as inactive).


🔹 Entry Type Fields

  • Description: A free-text field describing the type. Visible when logging or invoicing.

  • Unit: Unit of measurement (e.g., hours, km, days).

  • Group: Categorizes types for reports (e.g., hourly pay, mileage, per diem).

  • Payroll Code Number: Code used in payroll processing.

  • Used in Payroll?: Controls whether the type appears in payroll runs.

  • Used in Invoicing?: Controls whether the type appears in invoicing.

  • Affects Time Balances?: Used with Super-tier Project Management to track time balances.

  • Tax-free?: Marks the entry as tax-free (e.g., per diem or mileage).

  • Unit Price: Rate used for payroll; can be adjusted per payroll run.

  • Payroll Label: Name of this entry in the payroll system.

  • Deleted?: Marks the type as inactive (soft delete).
